Works perfectly, is simple to use, and has a solid design that has helped me save my data
5/5

I have an old SSD that I broke the connector on when my motherboard controller cable could no longer connect to it, forcing me to look for something with a more durable connection that I could plug into my computer to save my data. I came across this one and decided to give it a shot because of the positive reviews. Wow, that was a fantastic solution. It was simple to connect, plug in, and connect to Windows 10 without the need to load any drivers. The data lights on the drive blink to indicate when data is connected, and the transferring data stays steady as it transfers. When connected, the drive appears immediately, and the transfer speed is comparable to that of my computer drives. There have been no problems with throughput, disconnections, or data loss. It was difficult to demonstrate without a video, so I included one. There are no drawbacks that I can think of, and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

Transferring digital data from one location to another
5/5

This was purchased primarily for the purpose of making yet another batch of modded PlayStation 2 hard drives. br>While PS2 mods have become less popular in recent years, they are still a cheap and simple way to get an old Sony brick to play a library of games without a working DVD drive. br>Then I remembered I have an old hard drive from an emachines laptop; I wonder what's on it? br>When I plugged it in, I saw the Windows vista OS files, as well as a number of family photos from 2004 that I had assumed were lost forever! br>There wasn't much else on there, but it was cool that this 80GB laptop IDE hard drive worked when I plugged it in. I couldn't get to it back then, so it just sat in a desk drawer for all these years. br>I've used it a lot since then, for things like cloning drives and making original Xbox softmods simple. br>I can't think of anything negative to say. When not in use, place it on a table. The plugs aren't docking stations; they're just plugs that can break, but who would move it or hold it in their hand while copying data? br>I know, there are a lot of idiots out there. br>If my memory serves me correctly, there are a couple of one-star reviews on here because the reviewer couldn't hold it and had to shake the data out like the last two ounces of ketchup in the squeeze bottle. When you're using it, why would you need to move it? I guess I grew up in a world where data was transferred without touching anything. You didn't even dare to take a breath while the cassette deck was loading your game onto your Commodore 64! br>Aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Errors! I'll have to begin again! br>Anyway, it's less expensive than dirt and has 1,001 applications, as long as they're data-related. br>It's a definite must-have!.

It works fine, but double-check with the seller to make sure your drive is compatible
5/5

This is a fantastic hard drive reader for IDE drives. No need for any drivers on my Windows 10 system to recognize the drive; simply plug it in and the hard drive information will appear on your laptop or computer hard drive. br>Open the drive and you have access to all of your files; you can drag and drop them anywhere, delete them, and modify them just like any other external hard drive. br>Do contact the seller if you are unsure if this will work on your hard drive; they are extremely knowledgeable. I had to contact them a few times before they were able to direct me to the exact model that would work on my machine (they have two). There is only one USB port, which is intended for older PC IDE hard drives. br>I must say that their customer service is outstanding. I'm overjoyed that I was able to recover my files from a drive that I thought I'd never be able to.

A hard drive hoarder's tasting notes- in addition to Plextor-compatible CD and DVD drives Plus, there's a new level of security
4/5

I have a large number of hard drives, perhaps 100, that date back over 20 years. This gadget will work with the majority of them, and if your hard drive is functional, it will start up immediately. The USB 3. 0 port is a new addition to the USB If your hard drive supports it, it will actually give you faster transfer rates. I've tried a dozen of these from various manufacturers and models, and this is the best one I've found so far. It has the same appearance as the others, but it has better internal code. This is a significant improvement. If you need older optical drives for precise CD mastering, it will recognize them, including Plextor drives (I tested it on several models, including the Plextor Professional). This is a significant event- The vast majority of add-on adapters are ineffective in this regard. It not only confirms the presence of a CD drive; it also extracts the drive's model number and converts it to a USB version. w00t. br>Normally, I'd give this a ten out of ten rating. It does, however, have a flaw in terms of security. To be fair, nearly all of these adapters suffer from the same flaw. The molex connector has a fin on both sides that can be removed when connecting a full-size IDE drive. The issue is that the fin puts a lot of strain on the connector. br>Let me just say that if you're trying to boot up a ten-year-old drive with *your* data, a short circuit caused by this molex connector is the absolute last thing you need. The beginning of the end. I'm not making this up. You have two options (and obviously only one if you're handy with tools). Trim the fin off the connector's side with a sharp knife. if you don't want to nick the wire, don't touch it-- or you can get a much better quality molex connector with no fins for a few dollars on eBay. If you really want to be safe, test your connector with a multimeter. This thing works like a charm now that I've trimmed the plastic edge. Buy two.

This is a fantastic rough solution
5/5

This hard drive adapter isn't particularly attractive or sleek. It is, however, extremely useful for connecting old hard drives to any type of computer. And at this price, you'll be wondering how you managed to live without one for so long. If you're anything like me, you've amassed a collection of old hard drives from long-gone computers. Some of them have been gone for quite some time. This cumbersome adapter will allow you to probe the files on these old drives in order to make transfers and recover long-forgotten data (photos, videos, and documents). etc). br>br>The focus of this adapter is on functionality and adaptability to nearly every type of hard drive available. It's only meant to be used for a short period of time. There are far more elegant options for drives that will be used as external drives on a regular basis. Its strength is its only temporary design feature. The separate power lead adapter that some older hard drives used was what enticed me to buy this drive. This power lead isn't found on every adapter of this type. br>br>So far, this device has performed admirably, and I enthusiastically endorse it. It's an excellent, albeit crude, solution to a problem that many computer users face.
