Questions & Answers

These speakers appeal to me, but I already own a digital audio converter (DAC). is the process of connecting these speakers (which have built-in microphones) to a sound system. Is it a problem to connect a digital audio converter (DAC) to a system that already has one?

If you already own a DAC, I recommend checking out the Audioengine A2 original version. br>The differences between A2 and A2 are as follows: br>USB digital-to-analog converter-to-analogue converter-to-an Upgraded speaker connectorsbr>Standard 1/4" threaded inserts for wall mountsbr>Upgraded power supplybr>Upgraded accessory cablesbr>Variable audio output (connect a subwoofer or wirelessly send audio to other speakers with our optional W3 wireless adapter)br>Upgraded power supplybr>Upgraded accessory cables

Can I control volume with the computer if I connect these speakers via USB, or do I have to use the knob on the back of the speaker?

Both the volume on the back of the speakers and the computer USB input into the speakers can be used to control it.

Which is better: these or the Bose Companion 3? Thanks?

These. The Bose Companion 3 headphones are what I have. Because the power and speaker cables are similar in appearance, it's easy to mix them up when moving the speakers and replugging the cables, as I did. My speaker cable was broken as a result, and I can only hear from one of my speakers now. Because the cable is not standard, replacing it is difficult, if not impossible. This is a better option because the audio quality is likely to be better and the cables are standard.

Can a sub woofer be powered by the speaker's output? Is the 50 watt RMS sub I'm looking to power?

The question does not appear to be clear to me. Isn't the sub already a powered sub if he claims it's 50W? As a result, I'm confident that it will work with the A2. I'm married to a man who isn't interested in having children. The AE sub is connected to my iMac via the standard 1/8" stereo jack on the back of the A2, and the entire setup is connected to my iMac via the binding posts on the back of the "hot" speaker. The balance between the A2s and the sub is achieved by adjusting either the sub's or the A2's independent gain controls, with the overall system volume being controlled by the computer's volume controls. For me, it's a fantastic solution. I considered switching to a digital audio connection from the Mac, but this isn't my primary listening environment, and I didn't see the point in adding yet another USB interface to the computer. The only thing this setup lacks is a low-cost option. end cutoff (i.e. the point at which the process comes to an end). For the A2s, there is a highpass filter. Keep in mind that even if you have a sub, the bass signal from the A2s will still be audible.

Selected User Reviews For Audioengine A2+ Plus Wireless Speaker Bluetooth | Desktop Monitor Speakers | Home Music System aptX Bluetooth, 60W Powered Bookshelf Stereo Speakers | AUX Audio, USB, RCA Inputs,16-bit DAC (Black)

Very good, but not exceptional for the price I paid; requires good stands for directional adjustment for up-and-down motion
4/5

use with care PROS: Extremely adaptable; high-quality construction multiple high-quality inputs with variable output for secondary or auxiliary devices; volume control using the built-in preamp or an external preamp/computer/source Adapter with a threaded mount for use with adjustable stands; At high volumes, it's excellent for the size and cost. CONS: br>br> Despite the glowing reviews and listings all over the web as a top choice for the money I paid ($250), I was not blown away. As of this writing, the price has increased to $200. (This makes sense. ) They do, however, have a lot of positive aspects to consider. All cables were included, but the satellite speaker wire was far too short for my liking, so I had to replace it. There's no need to be concerned.
- br>If you keep an eye on the prices and find these for under $200, they appear to be a much better value for the output (in my opinion). That said, I believe the vast majority of people will consider these to be the best value for money if compared to anything else priced above $225. You will be blown away by the vast improvement if you add them to any laptop or all-in-one (iMac, etc. ) computer. The most serious problem is: br>br> If you sit close to them or plan to use them with a computer, the direction of the sound is extremely important. Ensure that they are positioned so that they are pointing DIRECTLY at your ears - or are at the very least EQUALLY NOT pointed at your ears; otherwise, you'll notice an imbalance and a lack of midrange impact from left to right. If you frequently move around your desk/office space and want these for music, do yourself a favor and put them as far apart as you can. The quality rapidly degrades once you leave the "sweet spot. " br>br>I have six LCD displays on three vertical VESA mounts, as well as articulating VESA boom arms and a simple painted wood adapter for using the thoughtfully included 14" tripod/camera mount on the bottom of the speaker to VESA 100 mounting plate. I can now quickly change the direction, pitch, and angle of each speaker for upright computer tasks, Netflix, or fill-in work. the- room- with- While I work, I like to listen to music. Most of you won't need this, but an inexpensive pair of adjustable speaker stands or camera tripods/stand (tabletop are very cheap) can be used to both elevate and adjust angle/pitch for your needs. You could also use threaded wall mounts designed for surround satellite speakers, which are relatively inexpensive. The AudioEngine speaker stand accessory option may work for some of you, but all it does is adjust the pitch in an attempt to get the sound up to your ears. It will miss if you are too tall or too short. br>br>Apart from that, they sound quite warm, with good midrange and highs, and no discernible distortion at high volumes when playing lossless audio. When playing heavily compressed or badly compressed audio (MP3, AAC, etc. , less than 160kb), they begin to distort. Excellent for voice, such as podcasts, Skype, FaceTime, and other similar applications; these will become VERY LOUD; a lot louder than any of your neighbors will like. If you want more bass for games or dance/trance/metal music, get the 4" version or invest in a good subwoofer. These are a good addition to a 3 if you plan on watching a lot of movies. 1/5. 1/7. 1 output paired with a good soundbar or speaker in the center. For a richer "surround" experience for music and movies, I'm using the output to a second preamp to subwoofer and an additional set of 2x2 1" tweeters. If I'm doing reference work, I only use the A2, and I'm fine with it. I think I'd prefer the 4" version, but I didn't want the larger enclosures or the extra cost. br>br>The multiple (3x) inputs and outputs (1x RCA) are the main reason I chose this item (after the sound quality reviews). The fact that the volume knob is on the back irritates a lot of people. However, because the volume of the input/output is always controlled by the computer, preamp, or AirPortExpress WiFi input for my needs, I set it a notch shy of full and never have to touch it. br>br> I wish there were back covers to hide the unsightly connections for an open-air vehicle. back and front - installation of a facing desk Right angle banana plug adapters with a 90o angle are highly recommended. br>br>The power adapter is an inline brick, which isn't a big deal for most people; This keeps the heat from a power transformer away from the speaker enclosure, which I like. A lock button is included on the power input plug to prevent accidental disconnection. This is a thoughtful touch that reflects the price you're paying. The distance between the brick and the enclosure could be increased by two inches. I'm 3 feet taller, but when it comes to equipment placement, I'm an outlier. br>br>On the back plate of the preamp enclosure, it gets quite warm to hot. Most people will not be bothered by them, but they will raise the temperature in a small space.

For their size, these are decent speakers, but keep your expectations in check
3/5

The A2 are decent speakers, especially for their size, but make sure you know what you're getting into before you buy them. The red color of these speakers is particularly appealing. The highs and mids have excellent sound quality. Instrument separation is excellent, and the sound is crisp and clear. Certain types of music, such as acoustic guitar, sound incredible. The lows, on the other hand, are noticeably lacking, even after these speakers have been broken in. They have a mid-bass thing going on, which is fine, but if you listen to music with a lot of bass, you'll be wishing for more. I considered getting a subwoofer, but I'm short on space, so that would defeat the purpose of having small speakers. br>br>In the end, I returned the A2 and purchased two Vanatoo T0. If you use the A2 with a stand, they're about the same size, but the A2 has a lot more bass, as well as Bluetooth, optical in, and a remote. They've made a huge difference in my life.

I don't write reviews very often
3/5

I'm not one to write reviews or complain frequently, but these are some of the worst speakers I've ever seen, let alone purchased. The only redeeming quality about these speakers is that they look nice, but that's where my compliments end. br>br>For a $260 speaker, this produces less sound than a $30 Logitech speaker, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that these speakers are of such poor quality that I was shocked, so shocked that I decided to write this review for people who are saving up for these speakers. br>br>They aren't worth it; I'm a sucker for appearances, so I ignored every flaw in these speakers' technical specifications; I reasoned that people might be mistaken, because in some cases, such as with Rokit speakers, normal users may find them "soft/low," but this is on a different level. There is no bass or midrange on these speakers, and the sound quality is terrible. br>br>I can see why so many people use them in photos, but not so many people review them, and it's because they're no more useful than a fake succulent on your desk. br>br>Conclusion: br>br> Buy these if sound quality or money aren't important to you. Avoid these like the plague if you have even a rudimentary sense of speaker quality.

They'd be even better if they sounded as good as they look
3/5

Let's get this out of the way, shall we? These items appear to be TERRIFYING! br>br>However, for the price, I was extremely disappointed with the sound quality. For a "wireless" setup, there are still a lot of chords to learn. " They sounded muddy in the low end and boxy overall. I spent two hours experimenting with various EQs and sound settings and was unable to come up with anything that I thought sounded good. A DECENT 2 is available for this price. 1 setup, and if you don't have the space, $280 headphones will suffice. You will have a far superior experience.
