I was looking for specific traits, and this hit on every single one of them. I was a little concerned about the price (which is ridiculously low), but now that they've proven themselves, the price only adds to the allure. Here's what I needed: br>br> - br>br>- br>br>- br>br>- br SMALL. I prefer an uncluttered zen on my desktop, and these babies are about the size of my fists.
- THE AESTHETIC: I was looking for a stylish speaker with a modern look. There are no grids to protect the speaker, nor is there anything old school about it. That, combined with the soft blue led glow, gives my desktop a very appealing appearance. After a long day at work, this is a nice place to unwind.
- SOUND: Sounding good from small speakers is a tall order. Now, this is a personal opinion, and I'm not an audiophile, but I'm impressed with what these can accomplish. When I play rock music on a sunny day, they fill my living room, and they do a good job of reproducing the sounds from my video games.
- CHEAP & CHEAP & CHEAP & CHEAP & I simply did not want to spend a lot of money. I like how cost-effective it is to get all of this for under $15. br>br>Here are the drawbacks, which don't bother me in the least. Others, however, may be interested in the following: CONS: br>br>
- On the desktop, they appear to be modern and chic, but when you pick them up, they feel like a cheap china-ware set. a small item from the town If you've ever visited Chinatown in Manhattan, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
- They need to be plugged in with both a USB and an aux cable. More advanced (and therefore more expensive) products may only require USB and will appear on your system as a USB sound device. Others may only require the aux cable, in which case they would be extremely quiet. br>br>That's all there is to it. I've had these for a few weeks now, and seeing them on my desk still makes me happy!.
Outstanding communicators. At first, these appeared to be fantastic - The sound quality was good (especially for the price), and the units were small, but after six weeks of use, they developed a bad static/buzzing sound that was extremely annoying and distracting. Despite the fact that the return date had passed, the supplier, iGotSmart, replaced them with the best customer service on Amazon. (When they saw my review, they contacted me right away! ) The substitutes are excellent. For the price, this is an excellent speaker set!.
They now have a static sound that I can hear even when I'm not listening to music. I adjusted the cables to ensure there was no interference, but the static sound persisted. When I'm listening to music, the speakers are fine, but when there's no music playing, the static is very noticeable. If you're looking for a low-cost temporary desktop speaker, I'd still recommend these speakers. The sound quality was, and continues to be, excellent in my opinion. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: My speakers did not come with an on/off switch for the leds/lights, as advertised (as evidenced by photos). Also, no switches or cords on any of the other sides of the speakers). I had to turn the leds off and on by turning off the speakers completely: br>br>Second Edit: Customer Support contacted me and informed me that the product I had ordered was an older model, and that the current model does, in fact, have a switch to turn the leds off and on. They'll also send me a new set of speakers for free. Because of the excellent customer service, I am raising my rating from three to four stars.
Update: br>br>The company contacted me, apologizing for the defective speakers I had received and offering to send me a replacement pair. The set I received is in good working order and does not produce any buzz. I no longer require speakers for my Echo Dot, but I did require speakers for my kitchen television, which is equipped with subpar speakers. I used a USB power splitter to power both the TV's Roku box and speakers from the TV's USB port. Because of the improved speakers and customer service, I'm raising my review score. br>br>The original review was as follows: I bought these to use with my Amazon Echo Dot. I had two Blackweb 2's. I had 0 speakers plugged in, and they sounded great, but they wouldn't fit between the shelves on my new TV stand, so I went in search of something smaller. I didn't expect much from these speakers, but given the number of positive reviews, I was hoping for more. br>br>The sound is anemic, bordering on tinny. Despite the moderate volume, the drivers occasionally made short, harsh buzzes, as if they were overdriven. Bass is a type of fish that does not reproduce. (With the size of these, I wasn't expecting much to begin with. ) ) The Blackwebs trampled these for only $5 more. I tested it not only with an Echo Dot, but also by plugging them directly into my television, and the results were the same. It's a shame, because they look nice, the size is good for small spaces, and I like how the USB and audio cables are modular rather than permanently attached, allowing you to swap out longer/shorter cables as needed. However, I'm not sure the company knows what "Aux" means. A secondary input, in addition to the main one, is referred to as an auxiliary connection. The term "single connection" should not be applied to a device's only connection. This isn't meant to be a criticism of the product; rather, it's merely a point worth noting. br>br>If volume is your only criterion for speaker quality, these are louder than you'd expect for their size, but the sound quality isn't great, unless you're comparing them to crappy laptop speakers. I'd pass on them and go with the Blackwebs instead. In comparison to these, they're three times as tall and produce decent sound with real bass.
