First and foremost, this isn't an enterprise rack; it's mostly made of sheet metal, but it's sturdy enough for network gear and small-scale servers. servers in the depths The hardware is quite robust, and putting it together was a breeze. Every single hole was perfectly aligned (which surprised me for a $200 12U rack), and the instructions were more than adequate. You'll need a small philips-head screwdriver in addition to the allen wrench that comes with it. To secure the back panel, use a Phillips head screwdriver. The cage nuts included are fairly standard, and the cage screws did not strip on me, so I'd say they're solid. It also came with a set of rails that attach to the inner posts, which I thought was a nice touch. br>br>One thing that disappointed me was that it did not include fans for the top panel, which I had assumed it would; It wasn't the case. I'm not sure I'd use them, but having them available would be nice. Again, you can't expect too much for $200, but this rack far exceeded my expectations. br>br>Br>br>Value for money 5/5 - It's simple, but it's of surprising high quality. br>br>Sturdiness: 4 out of 5 stars - The door mechanism could be a little more robust, and a magnetic strip would help keep the door in place while unlocked (though this is a minor annoyance).
There is no way to lock the side panels. It took 1 hour for me to put this together using the included instructions. It's possible that it will take longer for you. Several of the parts inside the undamaged and still strapped box, inside the internal shrink wrap, were damaged, which added to the delay. It appears to have come from the factory in that direction. Because the package appeared to be in good condition, the damage was not discovered until it was time to install it. I was able to put it together, but it is crooked, and due to the bent bottom piece, the door only latches in one direction. The side panels (which were both damaged when they arrived) do not latch into place, or, to be more precise, the little metal feet that are supposed to hold the bottom of the side panels are completely flat and do not hold the panel in place. If you need to secure your equipment, don't buy this because the side panels don't have locks. The damage nearly cost us the job, and I was hoping to get replacement pieces through warranty, but I was rebuked and told that I would have to remove the entire rack from its installed location, disassemble it, and ship it back because they wouldn't be able to send me replacement parts. This is essentially the same as tossing the entire purchase price plus $100 in a dumpster.
Otherwise, it's a solid product; I built a stand for the wall mount so that I could still reach my freezer. There are panels on both sides that allow you to access the wiring setups.
Plan on spending at least an hour putting this cabinet together. It's fine to use constructions. It's big enough to hold my switches, router, and modem, and it looks great on the wall. It's a $100 cabinet because you'll have to put it together yourself. You'll be fine if you just plan ahead.
I needed a cabinet for my home theater, and this box fit the bill perfectly: a lockable glass door that the kids couldn't open, removable sides for cabling, and a useful opening on the top if necessary.
I like the finished product; it appears to be sturdy and capable of holding what I required. The instructions, on the other hand, are nearly useless. Thank goodness for the cell phone camera's ability to blow up). br>However, even back then, the order of assembly was unknown, the attachment points were nearly impossible to reach, and assembling with only two hands was awkward. br>It only took a few hours in the end. br>I'm not going to hang it on the wall because I'm not fond of it. It has mount features. br>The door is reversible, but the branding is inverted once it is reversed. I'll have to see what I can do about it.
