Rails aren't included. They must be ordered separately.
If you set up the first unit as RAID 5, that doesn't mean the second unit will automatically join the existing RAID 5. The first unit would have needed to be set up as a RAID 5 array with a capacity of more than 12 disks. For example, if you set it up as a RAID5 with 24 disks, the disks from the second unit will be automatically integrated into the original RAID5. Normally, you'd set up your original RAID 5 to span the disks (12) in the original unit (unaware that you'd purchase a second unit), and you'd be stuck with that RAID5 set. In this case, I configured the second unit to have a RAID5 set capable of spanning 24 disks (but only spanning 12 disks), then copied the data from the first RAID5 set to the second RAID5 set, then removed the first RAID5 set and added it to the second set, resulting in a RAID5 set spanning 24 disks. I hope you find this information useful.
There is a cable included.
The sliding rails must be ordered separately, but the cable is included.

However, because it is Synology, it functions flawlessly. Rails are not included in the price. However, because it is Synology, it functions flawlessly. With this add-on shelf, we were able to easily double the capacity of our NAS. Synology is a no-fail option.
It really works. We have a few of these, and they're great for adding extra storage to our Synology NAS systems. If you require rack rails, make sure to purchase them.
Great.
