Questions & Answers

Are you able to expand this with PCIe?

There is no need to

It's a travesty to have a 431kx NAS Manual! It is not possible to communicate with anyone at Qnap. I need help with the setup. Are there any questions you would be able to answer for me?

Who are they, by the way? The setup of this NAS was very easy, but I only had it for four months. There is no support for Qnap and the service is bad.

Selected User Reviews For QNAP TS-431KX-2G 4 Bay High-Speed NAS with One 10GbE Port

In the past, QNAP was the NAS to use, but they got a one since negative numbers and zeros Since I bought this device, I have had to deal with 3 support cases
3/5

There were no possible solutions to two of the three. The only way to purchase the software add-ons from QNAP is through their website with a PayPal payment. The problem is that many Americans are based in the United States. Since publishing that information upfront would result in revenue losses for them, they won't share it up front. In the past, their support has taken up to 5 business days to respond- There were two issues that took from two to six weeks to resolve, and two that did not get resolved. The company contacts one or two times daily and never provides satisfactory explanations. I was asked to submit a payment to a specified email address at the end of my PayPal support case. A screen shot of the payment should be sent to a support case so licenses for their NAS can be purchased. When I replied that I thought this was patently ridiculous, they responded, "I was not personally happy myself, but this is what I heard back from the team in charge. There's nothing more I can do if you do not wish to go forward with it. NAS devices are available from Synology as well as any other manufacturer. The product has always been delivered on time and has been backed by the company. Avoid this awful company and avoid using them in the future. Besides unregistering all of my QNAP devices and not buying another one (yes they are shell companies), I also unregistered all my qnap devices. Support did a great job! The QNAP product used to be good but now it is bad, and customer service is bad.

With just a little help from my router, I have created a network drive accessible from any device connected to my network
4/5

regarding the lack of customer service with QNAP remains, but read down to the end of my review to find out what I think is a positive quality about my QNAP TS-160. The 431KX code. When I realized that I would not find answers to my questions from QNAP or their useless user guides, I stopped expecting them to grant me answers. Once I finished reading the user manual, I had an even greater number of questions than when I started. It was finding the "Contact us" link that was the worst part about this. I tried to contact the email address provided as well, but it did not exist or it didn't accept incoming mail. In addition to being hidden in the small print, the email address promised to reply to my message with an error message. I was truly on my own with this setup, but luckily for me I have more than 35 years of computer experience to turn to. It took me a day and a half to get my NAS up and running. However, it isn't set up the way I would like it to be, but I can make use of I had the biggest challenge when trying to log in using the default password. This is what the Quick Guide said was the default password when it mentioned My frustration grew when I failed to find the "MAC Address #1" and realized it was a network address. I searched all over the cabinets until I located the solution. I was able to figure out the password and was able to log in to my NAS and suddenly I was able to access areas of the QNAP support system that had been unavailable to me before I was logged into Despite finally getting it configured and transferring 7, I have yet to "exit" the program. I will wait at least one week to review the NAS itself I'll need to find out how I feel about it after I move 5TB to network drives. The support that QNAP does not provide alone is enough to cause me to give QNAP a big goose egg. Since I became a computer enthusiast 35 years ago, I've been doing research on the topic. In the case that you are not very computer savvy, or you don't know someone who is, and you're looking for a network attached storage unit, then Synology most certainly stands out. They seem to have a pretty good support site The following additions were made on *I've commented on my frustration with the learning curve necessary to get this NAS unit up and running. My favorite part of using it is now that it is up and running. Using the manual as a reference after setup is a much more efficient use of your time. The data provides a lot of technical details that can be useful when tweaking the program. This user manual has a major problem with not enough words, pictures are used to deliver the message instead. If the explanations for each picture included more than a single sentence, this would be fine. To summarize, here are the main features of the NAS Even though it took a long time to load the disks, I managed to do so. It is recommended to store 5,0TB of data and have the NAS verify each file along the way for integrity. After it was done, I realized how quickly it took me to back up an identical WD Easy Store USB drive that has 8TB to an identical WD Easy Store USB drive that has 8TB. It opens so fast now that I am able to choose between different folders! It used to take a very long time for me to open a folder on the 8TB Easy Stores, even on the computer it was connected Whenever I press the enter key to open an Access database, Access opens immediately. With access to the NAS drives, you are able to access the database far more quickly than you can with the 1TB local data drive. It's not as plug and play as Easy Stores were, but if you are comfortable managing computers, you will get there very fast. This is especially true since QNAP offers a nice collection of free apps you can use to customize your NAS to your.

This was a bad quality assurance
3/5

It is a real shame that software quality is so poor. You could get by with your NAS without SFP+ if you're only going to use it for SMB servers at 1G, but then why would you need that? There is no solution to the networking and container problems. It has returned.

The unit and support failed 160 days after delivery, so we have deducted one star
3/5

It was a bargain when I bought it in November - Twenty out of twenty got it 11 out of eleven The qnap site was also registered by me Two years left on my warranty, and I want to extend it There is not a gap of two years, as I have not done the math correctly. In comparison to the Synology DSM 6, the interface appears to be a bit busier. There are a few rough edges to the UI, but overall it is very usable and customizable. Management through the mobile app is cleaner than using the Synology mobile device management app. The first time you set the drive up, you should increase the raid build priority, this took the first synchronization from 120 hours to 20 hours. I have not put data on the drive so I cannot speak regarding speed, however I am running four HDDs with I think it is way too early to say if they are better than Synology, but they definitely provide better features per dollar. Here's today's update About 20 hours have elapsed since the raid build has been completed, using four 14TB I was initially highly disappointed when I connected two separate sources, one with a 10 Gbps connection and the other with 1 Gbps. Neither was able to make it above 1 Gbps by themselves, and together, they were able to push In a bid to finish up the test, I decided to test read to my desktop, which has a 10Gb nvme drive. The read was an average of 420Mbps, while the write was averaging 315Mbps, and spiking to 380Mbps. As you can see from this, I have only had it for a short time. It built the array fairly quickly, with x16 drives it reads at 420MBps and writes at 315MBps with the 10m DAC connected to the SFP+. There was a release of an update and it was The third starting point From 13 to 3 I have had 3 separate occasions when the unit has rebooted on its own and each time it has required a full rebuild which takes over 20 hours each time. Support took 3 full working days to respond to my email, and by the time they did, the unit had rebooted twice. Having sent them a reply, they turned around and asked me to put the factory RAM in, which led to the unit still rebooting. As you know, things happen, but I found it so inconvenient that support wasted so much time hoping it was ram rather than saying "Mr Customers I am reviewing the logs, but in order for us to further assist you, you must replace the ram. ".
