Do you have any idea how secure this is Is it protected by a firewall and anti-virus software Do you have antivirus ?

Many features in DSM are meant to keep malicious attacks at bay. During the past week, one of my units has been infected with ransomware. There was nothing import on the unit, since the unit was used to store security camera videos. As far as I can tell, I was hit with what is known as the man-in-the-middle It was taken from me when I periodically logged in to the website to view As far as security was concerned, I did not take it that HTTPS and 2FA (two factor authentication) are on, I can connect to websites more securely. There are features on your NAS that you can use to keep your files secure but they must be used. Thank you for your help.

I would like to put an 8TB hard drive. The number of bones in the m is 2. How many slots are there?

According to the Synology compatibility list, no M is supported. A 2TB drive is larger than a 2TB drive. The m is an important fact to remember. The second slot is only used for caching and not for storing data.

Can you tell me how much storage space this device has?

There are none. There is a need to purchase

Reviewing the situation properly - Here's all you need to know about the Synology DS220+ 2 Bay model
5/5

The assessment was done even after I had met my needs and was satisfied with the unit to ensure that I make my report as honest as possible To the best of your ability, be as detailed and accurate. Those interested in the review should know that I am examining the DS220+ 2-bay model. In addition to the model reviewed here, there are other models available on the same sale page. In a nutshell My quick recommendation for anyone looking for a quick answer buy this model of Synology as it is extremely good value for money, compared to other models. All of the others have a higher price for what you get. NAS units were on my mind for two years when I researched them. In order to do this unit justice, the following details should be given * * *- Specs of the PCs The CPU is It has an Intel Celeron J4025 Dual Core @ 2GHz (can be overclocked to 2. 8GHz) processor. I am trying to get it over 9GHz, but I have not figured it out yet)*RAM Two gigabytes (2048 MB) of DDR4 memory are included, and it's actually removable and can be expanded by up to six. OS Apple Macintosh Probably what sealed the deal for me was that I could upgrade the RAM to 2GB. It means that cheaper options only offer smaller parts soldered on, meaning that you'll have to deal with it until the unit becomes too slow and obsolete to handle larger digital files and to facilitate more demanding applications in In addition to a modular NAS, if you intend to use this server as a website or web app server, you should consider an RAID controller. Whatever your project is, you will need to be able to expand WITH it.
The 2GB included is plenty for my current use case, which is merely scheduled automatic backups. I have seen the highest RAM usage while running two simultaneous backups when using two programs at once, which leaves a huge margin of safety. This will be used if I decide to add another service down the road, such as If you are putting your hard drives in a NAS, plan on getting 7200RPM drives tailored specifically With extremely low error rates, they operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The NAS is equipped with dual ethernet ports so as to distribute the network load in case that becomes a bottleneck for your system. SSDs rarely come in handy unless you have 2TB+ drives to backup and those tend to be expensive. * * *- The price is While this Model definitely does not set the world record in the "Least price" category, $300 is not a bad price. QNAP TR-31 is a safe bet for the cheapest NAS you can buy A few days ago, they offered me the 002 2 Bay for $147, but they didn't state their full specs anywhere, so it was impossible for me to rank it and prevented me from rating It is likely the QNAP would have made my top five list, but one has to wonder what sort of CPU it has, what kind of RAM it includes, and if it is soldered or not. * * *- An easy-to-use interface For me as a technology user with experience, this was a very simple setup process. My experience with various OS systems includes setting up various setups, and this was a more streamlined process than I am It is simple to set up. You only need a web browser and begin by logging in to the web interface. * * *- The stability of the global economy I have yet to experience any problems that would hamper my data backups or put my data in danger. I have now experienced 23 days and 17 hours of uptime without any issues. There have been no bumps along the way. In order to back up my three computers, I use the Synology app, "Active Backup for Business". It was impressive that the software supported partial backups, that is, you could turn off the computer during the backup Restart the backup after the backup has been completed. In computers with exceptionally large hard drives that are not intended to run all day long, this tool is essential. It was incredibly easy to install the client software on each computer and create a backup schedule that was unique or similar to each one with the backup software. Backups have already been taken (I have them set up to take place every other day), and I have also held a test restore to ensure that it would work. * * *- Here are some uses for it As you can see, there are a lot of options with this NAS. I am not sure how prepared I am to write down all of the use cases. In any case, I will list some of the most popular available packages * * *- Backup programs with a variety of options*br *Antivirus software* - Plex* is a media server for storing media files. - Install Nginx, Apache, and PHP as part of the web server package. I'm using Wordpress
In the case of mail servers, - -Virtual Private Network (VPN) server I'd like to chat on the server - There are also several more features for developers.

And for developers, you can install whatever framework or library they I. - I use Docker
The Gitter - Identify the node. *js and br I love pearls
I'm using PHP
I am using PHP MyAdmin* A Python snippet It also offers a lot more

This is a true NAS, and I'm glad Synology did not sacrifice usability for simplicity. It is still very simple to use and easy to navigate, but it can also be used for advanced functions. In many cases, you are not able to run terminal commands from the desktop, but you can enable SSH from the control panel to run terminal commands. In summary, as far as price to performance is concerned, this takes the gold plaque with ease. The quality of the product is low The middle of the price range with the middle of the quality These days, it is rare to find a product with high-end performance. NAS is a nice little device
5/5

My overall system build is usually my own, but this system (DS920+) is much cheaper than building a new system, when I get it set up (used may differ wildly). My only wish would be that this had 10Gb Ethernet built in. With four 8TB Seagate drives in SHR-750T I can basically get 1Gb line speed when I do file transfers to and from this. As well as transcoding 1080p video (with subtitles) while performing a parity check, updating, and installing a number of packages, the NAS CPU sat at 50%. The workout was so easy that I hardly broke The following are a few things to be aware of at the time this article is written 1*
Support your state/province. When using Plex on this, you have to do something extra to enable hardware encoding (even when the checkbox is turned on). Due to the fact that this NAS is so new (7/13/2020) at the moment, its current releases have not yet made it up to speed. In my case, I succeeded in enabling hardware transcoding by following the instructions that others found. The transcoding can be found by searching for "reddit plex ds920 transcoding". This problem will likely be addressed in later updates to the Plex package for this particular model if you don't want to do this fix. A current Plex NAS guide at the time of this writing refers to ** 1. In the Synology package manager, the items available in third party package repositories are not all listed. They did not set a flag in their operating system. Although I'm not sure when that will be fixed (assuming it will be at some point), I'm not sure what the ETA is. 1. 2. 3. The memory modules come with 4GB on board, so this creates a total of 20GB of RAM. Some guides online have tested 16GB RAM modules with success. I would highly recommend this device if you are in need of RAM upgrade. Apart from that, I am happy so far with this purchase.

IF you update the RAM, then performance will be solid
4/5

With this NAS I was able to replace my Windows 10 workstation for backup, Plex, and video surveillance. I did my homework and researched instructions on how to accomplish the tasks I needed to accomplish before the setup wizard began. I did not realize the setup wizard only walks you through the basic settings of the unit and doesn't even touch on the details that make this device the powerhouse You won't be disappointed if you set your NAS up to accomplish all the things you want it to. Check Utube for a good guide and you won't be unhappy. Among the interesting things I noticed is that this unit comes with just 4GB of RAM. As you can see, this is plenty of power for "Basic" When you do anything with video surveillance or virtual machines, you should make sure that you have at least the maximum "supported" ram of 8GB. It is possible to upgrade this box to 20GB total by using non-volatile media A list of modules supported. It is important to keep in mind that these modules are "not supported" and Synology cannot help you with any issues while they During my use of the 920+, I had the base 4gg cards for about 2 weeks. I was able to share files and backup one file reasonably well. It was a bit lagging if other operations were also going on while the Plex server was being used. Secondly, I took advantage of Synology tech support to upgrade my unit by another 4GB for a total of 8GB (max supported by Synology). It worked extremely well and Plex was happy with the configuration. I was able to stream no matter what backup tasks were running. This was when I threw a wrench into the works and tried to run virtual machines Any VM with less than 4Gb allocated simply won't work. In particular, Windows, which is what I use, is very picky. I had difficulty supporting more than one VM with only 8 gb on the NAS

So I went outside of the guidelines and joined my 920+ with a single 16gb RAM dimm to increase capacity to 20 gb total. Now, let me tell you, it handles just about everything I need it to. The unit may need to be upgraded to a stronger CPU unit down the road, but in terms of what this unit is targeted at, it handled it perfectly. Ensure that your memory is adequate for the task you plan to use it for.
