Dunn, thanks for the reply, yes, that drive arrangement will work for the TS-1000 The SSDs can only cache up to 4TB, but you will need at least 16GB of RAM if you are using them for cache. My sincere thanks go to you!
Hi , SHR is far more automatic RAID choice and made for the less technically minded to protect their data from hardware failure without requiring them to understand complicated matters such as parity and striping in great depth. However, I had problems creating a pool with enough storage to go across all of my 10TB drives. I was told I needed to divide them into 2 or more pools by support. It was so frustrating to operate this unit that I decided to return It is highly recommended not to purchase this model since it was released in 2017 and is incredibly overpriced.
With 10G networking, I have been using one of these to edit video from multiple computers without any issues. I am using SSDs and a M. 7200RPM drives are also included. There are two read caches. The QNAP NAS was my former NAS for the past ten years, and I hoped that this would be a good replacement. The performance of this particular NAS was abysmal to my surprise. As a result of connecting a 10GbE fiber optic interface to the 1635, the transfer rate between NASs was lower than on a 1GbE link, and the CPU utilization on the 1635 was approaching 90% at times. It was a great experience but the software was difficult to use. I have reached out to QNAP Tech Support and will try to work with them. I will update my ratings as appropriate if they can help.
The performance was very slow, and the 10G speed was not realized. Purchase this item at your own risk. sounds great but in reality it's not very fast and the implementation of the 10G ports is faulty at a hardware level, which is only capable of getting you up to about 1G speeds if that. QNAP products are the only ones I will purchase in the future.
This product was horrible, and it was abused to the extreme. Years have passed since the design of the unit was developed. None of the RAM it was certified for would work with There was a slow response time from customer support (days/weeks). The device was unable to handle large volumes of data (80TB+). I was told (by Qnap support) that the unit was defective and should be returned. The unit was replaced as a result of my contact. I replaced the unit, but it did not work, both units had exactly the same Junk. Not even worth reading. I suggest you stay I was charged for the shipping back to Amazon twice (I am in an APO)! I could not believe how unfair it was! Those deployed overseas will have to pay over $35 each time. I do not know why Amazon thinks they have to abuse these people.
I am extremely satisfied with the customer service. I found the documentation, including the links to online documentation, to be not very helpful, some topics didn't seem to apply to my model, so I went to the tech support line. They are open 9am-5pm, Monday through Saturday I will be there at 9. An expert offered to Teamviewer into my system and assist me with the setup as soon as possible. Using Teamviewer, this was very easy and he was able to get me up and running while answering all my questions. He did such an excellent job that I ended up calling him back twice about error messages and the lengths of time it was taking to set up the RAID! I probably would have spent more time searching forums and other online sources for my answers if the support had been less good.
There is no doubt that QNAP is the best NAS array for your money. There are more software options than you will ever need, and great support. The array is fast and virtually silent, making it a great choice for your office or home. I would change the only thing is to allow you to add on your own blueray writer for archiving purposes, or a dual power supply option.
You can save a lot of money by buying the Qnap TS 1635AX. There are 18 slots in this NAS for less than $1500*. I had a few issues that were not disclosed. A few examples are as follows I. - One terabyte is the maximum amount of cache you can have. I. - There really isn't much room for speed, as processor limitations prevent us from reaching 1 gigabyte/sec. (Even after having 4 Samsung QVO on raid 0, I was only able to achieve a max speed of 700 Mbps) I/O (800 Megabits per second)*br I would like to say that the speed of the 50 is breathtaking! A constant of 450 to 500 MB/sec is seen when I connect 12x 8TB on raid 50 HDDs can transfer 500 megabytes per second! All things considered, it is a very good value for the money and would 100% recommend it for those with a few connected PCs accessing at once.
It appears that the 1300 bucks seems like a reasonable price for a fully featured 12 bay box with ssd and M. It is impossible to beat 2. I wouldn't recommend it for home or small business use because the performance is too bad. There is plenty of power in this base model. There may be a need for a processor with a higher clock speed if there are many users. I would recommend QNAP for its customer support as I can call the number and within one ring a knowledgeable individual will answer.
