It was a complete waste of time and money, and it never worked. I even purchased an additional power supply, but nothing has changed. Customer service wanted to talk about getting it working, so Amazon refused to take it back. For the past 20 years, I've been building my own computers. Everything was tried, including updates. I threw it away because I was so angry. $120. 00 lost isn't having a good time.
I was able to show films to my entire family. Excellent equipment.
It was purchased. attempting to smolder a M- Disc. It took hours to verify, then said it couldn't. Despite the fact that the disk appears to be in good condition (I did not check every file! ), This was done on a Mac, which, according to the seller's website, is compatible. I tried updating the firmware and downloading Pioneer's Mac "Drive Utility Lite," but neither of these things worked. For Mac, it appears that you'll need to spend an additional $110 or so on software. Then I tried it on a Windows 10 machine with the included "Cyberlink Media Suite," which is clumsy but functional. Once again, it failed. Pioneer tech support inquired as to whether I was using an approved brand of disk - I was. In the fine print, there is a list. Other brands, they said, might work, but only at a slower rate. So instead of 4X, I tried 2X - and it was successful! They should make all of these limitations clear up front. But it appears to work if you find and follow all of the small rules. It gets points for being a small, light, and slim design. It also appears to be effective. Also, the Pioneer support was excellent.
When I ordered this product, I didn't have high expectations because I was looking for a replacement for my SONY drive, which had served me well for the previous 5 years. Although time has passed and ODD is no longer needed, I have amassed a sizable DVD and Blu-ray disc collection. So all I needed was reading capability, and this one does that admirably, albeit a little slower than my Sony. Except for that and the lack of a 5V adapter, this product is fine. By the way, Amazon lists the LG one for a much lower price, but I passed on it due to a bad experience with LG ODDs in the past. Over the course of a half-year, the LG ones performed admirably before failing. Three units, to be exact! I used Japanese ones that lasted years rather than months!.
There isn't enough power, and the adapter isn't included. This was a waste of money because I can hear my computer "disconnect" the USB 3 drive while watching movies, which stops the movie from playing and then reconnects seconds later. Then you must restart the movie to get back to where you were. According to my research, this happens frequently when a USB device lacks sufficient power. I noticed a spot on the drive where a 5 volt power adapter could be plugged in, but it was missing from this unit. BUYING THIS PRODUCT IS A MISTAKE! br>br>All I have to do now is hope that I can locate my original packaging in order to return it. "Clean-up" is something that my wife enjoys doing. He "cleans up" and discards his belongings.
DVD player and burner are both very cool. It's a little loud at times, but it gets the job done.
