For my antique pocket watch, this is a lovely watch chain. I just wish the gold on the watch case was a little brighter to better match the chain.

It'll come off eventually because it's a plate. But, unless you want to spend tens of thousands of dollars, I think this is a great pocket watch chain. It's best if you can loop it through a vest button. Others that hook onto belts or around the button itself have caught my eye, but I prefer this one's classic look. My father was overjoyed when I gave it to him to go with his grandfather's 1909 pocket watch.
