how? How did that happen in the first place? I bought a backwards-spinning pocket watch for $16. I'm not even angry; it's just that. . . baffled. I've never had such serious doubts about my understanding of clockwise and counterclockwise before.
Bought for my 7-year-old daughter, who is almost as big a fan of the FMA Brotherhood as I am, if not more. It made her absolutely ecstatic. Considering the low price, it appears to be a surprisingly good quality piece; it may not be an exact replica from the series/Manga, but she is happy with it nonetheless, and she especially likes that it is a working watch that she can use to tell the time. br>br>For those arguing that the 4 should be IV rather than IIII as it appears on this watch, just know that Arakawa actually drew it using the IIII, so that part is actually true to the original lol. Not to mention the fact that for centuries, the numbers IV and IIII have been interchanged on clocks.
In the last six years, I've looked at a lot of them online, but I finally gave in and bought this one. I was always hesitant to buy watches because of the mixed reviews. br>br>I just got this today, and it's working out well so far! It arrives in a box with gray sponge wrapping. It comes with a long, thick chain that can be attached to a belt loop or jeans, just like the one in the anime, as well as a thin necklace chain (which I doubt I'll use, but I'll keep it). br>br>To set the watch time, simply remove the small white plastic tab under the knob, turn the knob until the watch hands reach the correct time, and press the knob/button down to make the clock nice. br>br> The words "Oct. 11" are printed on top of the watch lid rather than engraved into it. The back of the card is embossed with "Fullmetal Alchemist. " br>br>However, I don't want to be bothered with opening the watch. It isn't even opened all that much in the show. Winry had to pry it open because it was alchemized shut. Although I don't believe the original watch had an alchemical circle on the dial, every version of the watch does. No watch will ever be as large as the one depicted in the anime. br>br>TL;DR; This is a nice watch at a reasonable price, and I'll keep you all informed if anything changes.
In the shipping box, the box does open. The item arrived exactly as depicted in the photo. The clock was already running when I arrived, and I'm not sure that's how it should have been. The only issue I had was that the lid opened inside the box, allowing the chain to hang out. The finished product, on the other hand, is satisfactory. With the exception of the decorative face, this is an exact replica of the anime pocket watch. Inside the lid, there are a few scratches, but I consider them authentic scratches. Others might be annoyed by it.
I ordered three watches and had to return three of them because the first one had a scratch on the inside from the writing. The second had a dead battery, and the third had a broken loop at the top of the watch that had become detached. The fourth was the best one I got, and while I like the price and quality, I think they should inspect their products before shipping them.
I've been wearing it as an edc (everyday carry) item for the entire week, including while working in a machine shop. This watch hasn't been damaged yet. The lanyard chain is sturdy, the clock ticks with pleasure, the attention to detail is impeccable in my opinion, and the watch's finish is incredible; it feels so soft! I was able to set the time without difficulty, and it hasn't been out of sync since. I'm not sure if the battery can be replaced yet; it appears that the back simply unscrews, but I don't expect to need to do so anytime soon. So, as a prop or a real pocket watch, I don't think you can beat this price. 10 out of 10 would buy it again.
For me, the watch performs as expected, and the design is attractive. This is a worthwhile purchase if you want to cosplay. There are a few inaccuracies if you're looking for a completely genuine watch. The "Don't forget" message is clearly not etched in, but it is positioned incorrectly. Another feature is the crest on the watch's face. Not only is this inaccurate to the manga/anime, but it also requires a slight squint every time you look at the time, as the clock hands are frequently hidden. However, these are minor gripes; I believe you get more value for your money.
I should have gotten a lot more because my family is overflowing with them. br>br>It's not an exact replica of the show, but it's still cool to have, and it keeps time so far. If that changes, I'll make a note of it here. br>br>I'll most likely purchase more next year.
