I bought a North Face rain coat and then decided to buy this one a few minutes later (both sizes small). I figured I'd just return the one I didn't like, but this Carhartt mid weight Storm Defender was far superior. Before I even put it on, I knew what I was getting myself into. I like how it fits and the fact that it's mid-weight. In the spring and fall, I don't feel the need to layer it, and it's still breathable enough to wear in the rain during the summer. The mid-weight makes me more comfortable, so if it snows or sleets, I can just throw a sweatshirt under it and stay warm instead of changing into a different jacket. Overall, this is most likely the best raincoat/jacket I've ever owned or seen.
A fantastic coat in general. The materials are nice, and the construction is of high quality, as you'd expect from Carhartt. Unfortunately, the fit is typical Carhartt, with a short utility/rain/maternity coat for men. In order to get something long enough for my arms, it has to be large enough at the waist to be practical. I've tried mediums, larges, large talls, extra larges, and so on--I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 170 pounds, so I don't have an unusual build, but nothing fits well. There's just a lot of material billowing around that gets in the way, adds bulk, and makes you look ridiculous. Still, no one else makes anything as durable for this price, so I'll keep buying it and whining about it. br>So far, the waterproofing appears to be excellent.
I've given up ordering coats and jackets online because they tend to be cut too slim, even in big and tall sizes. This one is a good fit for my tall and girthy frame. It's made of a sturdy, well-weighted material that's ideal for cool days when you don't need an insulated coat but need something more substantial than a lightweight rain jacket. XXL Tall was purchased for 6'3" 290 pounds.
Two of these jackets have been purchased by me. My husband will get one, and my brother-in-law will get the other. Both of them needed to go down a size. However, they both enjoy it because it keeps them warm and dry while also being light.
The sizing is consistent with the rest of the Carhartt line. My son "liberated" a similar jacket from my truck, and I replaced it with this one. br>br>The only drawback I can think of is that my older version had reflective silhouette outlines for added safety. br>br>It was important to me that the jacket had the ability to breathe so that the wearer could stay comfortable.
Upon arrival in the United States, As a result, I needed a water-resistant coat. I liked the design when I first saw it. The chest pocket is large enough for larger phones, and the zippers are sturdy. Overall, the coat is of excellent quality and will keep you warm and dry. Please note that this coat runs a little large, so double-check your measurements before purchasing.
Super fast shipping, arrived ahead of schedule, and fits perfectly. I usually wear a medium, but I ordered a large so that I could wear a hoodie underneath while still having shoulder flex. I'm 5'6", weigh 195 pounds, and have 46-inch shoulders; the large fit perfectly in the shoulders but was a little big around the waist (which was to be expected). Excellent quality material; I haven't tried it in the rain yet, but I did wear it outside in 35°F weather with just a hoodie underneath and it was plenty warm.
It's also waterproof. This jacket is absolutely stunning. It's made of a tough, solid material. The jacket is water-resistant. This jacket could be worn all year if you layer appropriately.
