It's "really good" in the rain, according to my husband.
It's made in another country, but it's of excellent quality, and it's extremely useful for keeping the chill at bay.
Selected User Reviews For Carhartt Men's Rockford Rain Defender Jacket
Although it is attractive, it did not keep me dry when it rained. I'd only been hiking for an hour and a half in the rain and wind, and my underwear was already soaked. It wasn't even a torrential downpour; rather, it was a light drizzle with gusty winds.
I have a few Carhartt jackets, so I knew this rain jacket would be good. It's the perfect fit, and I can't wait to slosh around in the rain with it! lol.
I've had this coat for almost four years and keep reminding myself that I need to write a review every time I wear/use it. This coat is a complete waste of time and money. It's nothing more than a nylon coat. It's not even "water resistant," in my opinion. " I walk to work because I live close by. After ten minutes in the rain, I'm completely soaked, with water dripping down my shoulders and arms. I'm not even talking about a torrential downpour; just a typical rainy day. My back is dry, but that is due to the fact that I am wearing a backpack. This is nothing more than a standard nylon windbreaker. It provides no more rain protection/resistance than simply wearing a hoodie. It will most likely dry faster, but that is all there is to it. The only time this is useful in a "rain" situation is when it is sprinkling outside and you need to walk from the far end of the parking lot to the office/store or wherever. And at that point, I wouldn't bother because you'll only be out in the sprinkling rain for a minute or so. I can't believe it costs $50 and is advertised for rain. Simply buy the $20 yellow jacket from home or look for something else because this is the most useless rain jacket I've ever seen. I'm not sure how it has such a high rating. It does, however, fit well (Carhartt is notorious for being way too big).
I would normally wear a large jacket, but I ordered one size down after reading the other reviews. Others were of the same opinion. I'm 5'10" and 195 pounds, and the medium was a perfect fit for me. I HOPE THIS HELPS.
Before removing tags, I always inspect the fit, quality, zippers, snaps, and seams. The jacket's fit, color, and appearance were all appealing to me. It was exactly the right weight for me. When I tried to zip it up, I ran into issues. Nine times out of ten, I couldn't zip it all the way up before it jammed. I could get it to zip all the way up with a lot of coaxing, but who wants to fiddle with a rain jacket for two minutes every time? I looked at the zipper very carefully. The internal flap of material under the zipper was constantly getting in the way of the zipper and jamming it, so there was no one spot that was defective. I could move it a few more inches up if I carefully pulled the material away from the zipper, but I'd have to repeat the process. Everything else about the jacket appealed to me, and I've always been a Carhartt fan. This jacket, on the other hand, was a huge hit or miss. I sent it back and replaced it with a different Carhartt rain jacket. I'm hoping that my brand loyalty isn't harmed any more.
I really like how this jacket fits and feels. It's ideal for the summertime. You won't overheat because it's light and breathable, but it's thick enough to protect you from wind and light rain. I'm a fairly substantial individual. The 3X was the perfect size for me. For warmer weather, it's my go-to rain jacket, and if it's really cold, I'll layer it with another light jacket. Here's what I don't like about it: br>br> While Carhartt's marketing uses the term "rain repellant," it goes a little too far. This jacket is rain repellent, or at the very least resistant to rain. It won't keep you dry if it gets wet. This jacket is perfect for a quick trip outside or a rainy day. It's not ideal for spending the entire day outside on a drizzly day, or any length of time in the rain. If there is a persistent mist or drizzle, it will eventually become saturated, and if there is a decent downpour, it will become saturated quickly. br>br>The compromise is acceptable; after all, a truly water-resistant rain jacket will be heavier and made of non-breathable fabric. Just keep an eye on what you're purchasing. TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR For quick trips, this rain jacket is an excellent all-arounder. Working out in the rain is not a good idea.
My husband's favorite light has quickly become this one. Jacket that is light in weight. He's nearly 6'5", and the XLT is a perfect fit for him. Finding a jacket that is the right length and has the right arm length is difficult. It will keep you dry in the rain, but if the coat becomes saturated, you will become wet. br>br>A stretchy mesh lining runs the length of the coat and hood. Solid lines can be seen on the sleeves. Two upper pockets are located on the coat's front. The pockets are 6" x 4 1/2" on the inside and have two snaps to close them. (These pockets will not accommodate my husband's Galaxy Note 5 case. ) He'll have to make do with the inside pocket. ) The left side pocket has a hole through which you can feed your headphones wires into the jacket's interior. Two large side (hand) pockets with a single snap closure are also included. There is one velcro-closed interior pocket measuring approximately 7" x 6". br>br>The bottom of the jacket has a drawcord that can be adjusted on either side of the hood, and the hood has a drawcord as well. The cuffs have two snaps on each side, allowing them to be adjusted to fit various wrist sizes.
The shell of the jacket is 100% nylon. 100% polyester is used for the body lining as well as the hood as well as The lining of 100% the sleeve is 100% nylon of the sleeve is 100% Cambodia manufactures the jacket.
