Questions & Answers

How well does it withstand the wind?

It's extremely wind resistant, and you won't be disappointed.

What's the difference between a quick duck livingston and a full-throttle cryder?

They're quite similar in appearance, and in terms of warmth, they're on par. The Cryder has full swing technology, a freedom gusset under the arms for ease of movement, and is about half an inch longer than the Livingston.

Is it able to withstand the heat of a fire?

That is, without a doubt, a manufacturer's question. However, because it is primarily made of cotton, I would say no, it is not fireproof.

Is this a large-sized jacket?

It is unquestionably big! When I first bought it, I ignored a lot of the reviews that said to get a medium if you're normally a large. I had to exchange my large for a medium because it was too big. They advise for 5'- 9” 195- It's true that if you weigh 199 pounds, you can get a medium. If you usually wear a large, go for a medium--as the full swing suggests. It has a lot of room, and it's a fantastic jacket that keeps me warm! Get it!

I think this is the best-fitting coat I've ever had
5/5

My favorite leather jacket's liner has completely shredded, and the insulation is beginning to fall out. I was looking for a daily driver because repair costs were approaching $150. wear a coat that could withstand a New York winter without overheating me on a 40-degree day commute is only a few minutes I work about 70 percent indoors and 30 percent outdoors, but I'm in and out several times a day and don't like layering. Over a t-shirt, I usually wear a thick jackshirt. Once the temperature drops below 45 degrees, switch to a heavier layer as the temperature approaches freezing. br>br>First and foremost, I was completely obsessed with this purchase. Before trying this one on, I tried on dozens of coats and even bought and returned a few. While I'm a big guy (6'3", 56", 56", 38", 38", 38", 38", 38", 38", 38", 38", 38", 38", 38", 38", 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 382, 38 The issue is that most garments designed for "big guys" assume a 12" difference between chest and waist, so an XXLT usually fits well in the midsection but is too tight in the shoulders, and an XXXLT fits well in the shoulders but hangs like a garbage bag on me. Worse, nearly everything I looked at online or in stores seemed to be missing a key feature I was looking for. This coat appeared to have everything; br>br> a hood (for my bald head), a double zipper (essential for driving in a longer coat), zippered chest pockets (no phones slipping out when bending over or moving around), and a non-removable lining I ordered a 2XLT in the hopes of finding a hidden gem with a removable liner (no sleeves pulling out when I take it off) and a draw cord for my aforementioned fit issues. br>br>Well, it appears I found a hidden gem. What I didn't expect was how the "Full Swing" design incorporates additional material into the back and shoulders in a clever way. I can't believe I can cross my arms without any binding AND the waist/gut area isn't too baggy. I used the draw cord to pull the bottom in a few inches, and it turned out to be quite stylish. This is also a classic Carhartt design. quality garment, but the "duck" material is softer and thinner than some other Carhartt products (such as my well-loved Carhartt jacket). a hooded jacket that has been worn). It appears to be durable enough for everyday use, but I won't be using it for particularly strenuous or dirty tasks. The removable hood is enormous, easily pulls over a baseball cap, and cinches down with a cord; there are two zippered/horizontal chest pockets; Both are quite large and have internal tacks to keep them from sagging. Storm flaps with snaps adorn the two hand warmer pockets, which took some getting used to. The brass zippers are large enough to manipulate with gloves and operate smoothly without snagging on the sides, and they are shallow compared to the chest pockets, but I can still get my entire (large) hand inside. It's warm, and the fact that you can unzip both the top and bottom gives you the option of venting it when you need to. Yes, I'm very pleased with it. br>br> I'm hoping for a clean finish on the lighter brown. While I'm writing this, I'm thinking about spraying it with fabric protector, but it's machine washable in any case. Maybe I'm just giddy because I finally found a coat that fits me like a glove. This season, I'll wear it and, if necessary, update my review. br>br>One final point; I originally chose a slightly different style and ordered it through Amazon, but my Honey add-on recommended a different Amazon seller than the one I had chosen. I joined them, saved a few dollars, and received the same 2-bedroom apartment. day Prime shipping AND a no-hassle, money-back guarantee shipping- return that has been paid As I was finishing up this review, I noticed that the coat's price had dropped by $40. I called Amazon and asked for a credit to my account, which I received. Amazon and Honey deserve a lot of credit for making shopping from home even more appealing.

Great winter jacket with a lot of durability, especially for people who have a big stomach
4/5

EDIT: This jacket is still one of my favorites a year later. Several design features could be improved, but overall, it's a significant improvement over standard Carhartts. br>br>It's actually quite interesting how many simple but innovative design features there are in this jacket after receiving it. The sleeves immediately stood out to me. br>br>Scroll down to the bottom for a quick summary reviewbr>br> The compression cuff on the inside of the sleeve is similar to what you'd find on a regular jacket. The sleeve, however, is a little longer on the outside. Furthermore, the cuff on the outside is not perfectly rounded. The top of it appears to be slightly longer than the bottom of the wrist, which I assume is to keep a little breeze off the back of the hand while maintaining wrist mobility. br>This is a fantastic feature. The compression cuffs were definitely tight at first, but after a day or two of pulling them up my forearm, they stretched a bit to be comfortable. I always wear a watch, so if it's not a blisteringly cold day, I'll put the compression part before my watch, but the outer layer will still get to my wrist. br>br>The snap buttons make it simple to remove the hood. It has a beanie on the inside and a drawstring to keep it snug. br>br>A water-resistant coating is applied to the outside, but it is not permanent. I'm aware that Greenland can be used to increase water resistance. POCKETS. br>br> Pockets are something I enjoy having. I'm not sure how women manage it, but I'm in desperate need of pockets. I'm not a fan of traditional work jackets with only one small inside pocket. On the outside, there are two large zipper pockets large enough to hold my large chunky phone and case. On the left, there's a zippered inner chest pocket, and on the right, there's a Velcro-closed inner chest pocket. And, of course, two outside waist-height pockets for your handsbr>br>I've been wearing it in a light t-shirt in temperatures around 32°F. I've been fine wearing a shirt and a beanie, but I'm sure it could be a little lower. It has enough room to wear a sweater (or two) underneath. br>br>An arm pit and shoulder gusset are included in the "full swing" to help you move without becoming tangled. Because of this, the sleeves aren't as baggy as they could be, which is nice; however, the chest and stomach are far too baggy for my taste, especially given all of the features that allow for more movement. BUT, at 5'9" and about 170 pounds, I'm on the slender side of a blue collar worker. br>br>Oh, and I ripped off the Carhartt logos. They're ugly in my opinion, and the jacket looks great without them.

Then go wrestle some bears after you've ordered your size
5/5

If you want to layer, go one size up per standard sweater or sweatshirt. The size chart here refers to a range of sizes. Example: The size large corresponds to a bare chest measurement of 42 to 44 inches. etc. , etc. Tall sizes add 2 inches to the length of the shoe, but tall sizes appear to be sold out at the time of this review. The Shadow color looks best on darker, gray, or salt-and-pepper haired men like myself, while the Canyon Brown color looks best on blonde, sandy, or red haired men. It's not too hot, only reaching around 50 degrees, but it keeps you warm down to below freezing (depending on your tolerance and activity). I liked the jacket a lot, but I didn't like how the hood was attached. My solution was to sew the top flap of the hood attachment set and cut off the bottom flap (with the snaps). up and down indefinitely You'll see what I'm talking about when you get the jacket. My local dry cleaner's seamstress charged me $10 for a job that took her ten minutes to complete. However, take your time and look for a reputable seamstress. Please keep in mind that my seamstress is fantastic (note: If you're thinking of bears, this is the jacket for you).

This is an excellent jacket
5/5

This is an excellent match. In older Carhartt designs, I usually order a medium because the large was too big and puffy for me. Newer designs, such as this one, fit in the same way that other brands do. Normally, I purchase a Lg- Xlg is a brand name that is used by a number of different companies. This is a fantastic winter jacket. There are a lot of them. My iPhone Xplus is protected by an Otterbox case, so I use the check pockets. To prevent items from falling out of the waist pockets, there are buttons. The jacket is roomy enough that I can layer it with a hoodie for added warmth.
