LOOK FOR ANOTHER BRAND IF YOU NEED REAL QUALITY WORK CLOTHES. For more than two decades, I've been purchasing Carhartt's Detroit jacket. This one left me completely unimpressed. It weighs half as much as previous jackets and is of comparable quality. (It's barely thicker than a medium-weight sweatshirt. ) I believe this model is no longer available - There isn't much of a loss because of the poor quality. From now on, I'll shop for work clothes from different brands. BEWARE OF THE BUYER - CARHARTT IS NO LONGER ASSOCIATED WITH QUALITY!.
This is the third time I've done something like this. I've purchased the "next generation" model every time. In terms of quality, they are deteriorating. Regardless, it appears that this particular style of jacket is being phased out. The third generation is the poorest in terms of quality. There are no interior pockets, according to some reviews. This is not the case. There are two of them. There are two pockets: a zipper pocket and a pouch pocket with velcro closure.

I decided on a Medium Tall. My best advice is to compare them to Dickies insulated jackets in terms of fit. 5'11" is my height. I am 174 pounds. I am a tall individual. Because of my broad shoulders, I prefer large t-shirts. Levis has a lot of big jackets. different brands But in Dickies jackets, I'm a Medium Tall. It's the same with the Carharrt Detroit Jackets; I think the Large was a little too big, so I'm happy with the medium tall. I hope this information is useful to those of you who are unsure.
I wish they would keep the J001 BLK the way it was because the new style has a long back that is inconvenient if you drive a truck for a living because you are either sitting on it or against it if you flip it up. I also dislike the flap behind the zipper because it makes it more difficult to zip. There are no snaps at the waist to adjust the waste.
I've bought this same Carhartt Detroit Jacket several times over the years because it's a tough work jacket made of 12 oz canvas duck with a nice warm blanket lining and a good length for working in the shop or driving. On cold days, the heavy canvas material helps to keep the wind at bay. Sizing for Carhartt is a bit of a pain. I'm 5'7", 170 lbs, and have a 41" chest, so the size Medium gives me plenty of room to layer. Aside from work, the black color is stylish enough to wear out for a casual dinner. This coat is absolutely stunning. For the price, you can't go wrong, and it's a tough work jacket.
This jacket is built tough, so don't expect it to fit perfectly around the waist. The large is true to size in terms of chest, coming in at around 42-inches. 44 inches in length. The buttons on the sleeve cuffs can be used to make them a little smaller. I don't mind the fact that the waist of this jacket is a little flared out. I have a 36 waist, and if you zip up the jacket, you'll notice some extra room around your waist, which is understandable given that this jacket is designed to be worn with layers underneath. Overall, I'm surprised I've never worn one of those Carhartt jackets. I really like how heavy it is and how it feels. This is an excellent investment!.
I was concerned after reading the reviews; I'm a carpenter, and I've been wearing the Detroit jacket as my work coat for decades. br>The short length is ideal for carrying your tool bags. And it's not too expensive. br>Because I work in Oregon's rainy climate, I'll wax my Carhartts like a Filson. As a result, for me, function has always trumped fashion. The modifications are as follows: br> It is made of a softer, less rigid material. br>The blanket liner has a fleece-like feel to it, rather than that of a horse blanket. The waist-tightening buttons are no longer functional. br>The pockets' interiors are also softer. br>The outside chest pocket is larger, which is ideal for my large phone. br>There is one more inside pocket, for a total of two, one with a velcro tab and the other with a full zipper. br>The main zipper (the pull and the "zips") feels less substantial because it is a little smaller. This makes it more difficult to zip blindly because I need to see it to guide the zipper around the jacket's material. The zipper used to stand out more from the jacket, but now it's almost completely hidden by the fabric. br>As a result of the modifications, it is now more of a "comfortable lifestyle jacket" than a "tough working jacket. " It is unquestionably more relaxing. br> It's a little thicker than the old one, which was quite thin and not what I'd call a warm coat; it's also a little lighter (though it still serves as my main winter work coat on the temperate coast). br>I went for the navy color.
