Questions & Answers
The vest is worn over your pants and belt, with the belt exposed enough on the sides to hook a tape to. There are hammer loops, however, where your belt would be exposed, and any hammer or tool hung on these loops would collide with a tape. The front pockets on the left and right are ideal for holding a tape. These vests are fantastic, especially if you're doing finishing work or working in close proximity to a lot of finished surfaces.
Yes, in the lower right pocket, I put a 30' tape. These vests are fantastic for finishing the inside of a building.

They can't be taken off. You might be able to tuck them into the inside of the vest, or sew some velcro in to keep them in place.
That is the largest size available; the tolls are supposed to fit snugly to prevent them from falling out.

Vest is very comfortable, and pockets are located where they are needed. The pencil pockets are too low for short people, as they are too close to the waist area; I am 5 feet tall. 6" tall. I had them moved up higher on the vest, and the vest was too tight unless you opened the second zipper, which I didn't want to do, so I had a seamstress add 2 inches of black material to both sides of the vest, allowing the main zipper to close. In addition, today's large phones require a wider phone pocket. I contacted Blaklader and informed them that they needed to produce two sizes, tall and short, for tall and short people.
I had previously purchased the cotton duck version of this vest, which had quickly worn out. This one is made of ripstop nylon and has far outlasted the previous one. I prefer the design and placement of the pocket, and it has a hammer loop on both sides, which the other one did not have. Because the hammer loop is a little high, I attached a carabiner to it, which greatly improves its usability. I was worried that the nylon material would make it too hot, but the plenty of mesh venting effectively dissipates heat and moisture. It's a much better product than the one I purchased previously for a few dollars more.
This vest is fantastic; I think it could be used for a variety of activities, but I prefer to use it for electrical work. I like how it distributes the weight evenly across my entire body and helps to relieve shoulder pain. All of the pockets are extremely useful for keeping track of things.
I am a 5'6" slim woman who ordered a medium so that I can layer it over heavier clothing and coats during the colder months. I really like this vest because the lower pockets are right where my hand is when I'm wearing it. I might be able to avoid danger. When I'm not using the back pockets, I pin them up out of the way, but when they're empty, they're barely noticeable, even when I'm sitting or getting in and out of vehicles. It's a cool vest that's comfortable, lightweight, and durable. It was exactly what I was looking for.
I bought it for myself and mailed it to my Dad's house along with a bunch of tools for some work I wanted to do there. When he saw it, he mistook it for a message from me. I told him to keep it and I'd order another one because he liked it so much.
I ordered a 3X vest because my pants are 48" in length. This appears to be a good size for a Large. I'm not surprised because this is my second vest. To make it fit, I had the back cut and a wedge spliced in. WARNING: If the sizes are horribly undersized, this is a fantastic wood shop vest.
I primarily work in the kitchen and bath remodeling industry, as well as trim and tile, and this vest is comfortable enough to wear all day. There are no hammers or tools protruding from the cabinets to ding them. This one does have a hammer loop, but who uses a hammer these days? Perhaps those dreadful framers; )br>I usually get three years out of a vest, and this is my fourth. br>I've also received a lot of positive feedback from customers, which makes you appear to be an expert in your field. Haha.
Also: On hot days, the vest's netting keeps you cool.
