Questions & Answers

There is a very loud squeak coming from these boots on linoleum. Would you mind telling me how I can resolve ?

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. Taking grandmother's cookies out of the house will be more difficult now, since she can't sneak in to steal them! These boots are one of my favorites and I have several pairs. It is the best side zip boots I have ever owned. There has been a "squeaky" sensation with every pair up until they have been broken Note If you get them on a soft surface such as a basket ball court, bowling alley or grandma's kitchen floor, they will not scuff it. It isn't too risky to take em out in the "paint ball" yard (if you are that daring), and you will be satisfied with the results.

In light of the fact that it is a work boot, does it come with composite toes?

There is no such thing. I present you with the Ultra-high-tech The lightweight model is designed to be as light as possible. If you need a model with comp toe, they do make that, too.

Can it be cleaned with water?

This shoe has been used many times and I have stepped in a number of puddles with it. Having worn my boots for quite a few years now, I have never experienced any leaks inside

What would happen if I wore them during a 50 pound backpacking trip?

Having a backpack allows me to hike the national parks and mountains carrying 40 to 60 pounds of gear The weight of the camera gear is 50 pounds, and the volume of water is 3 gallons. I love these because they are military grade and I think they're wonderful. Ninety-five percent of the time, I wear them

This is the ninth year I've bought these boots
5/5

Since I bought them 9 years ago, I have worn them every day. The pair I have always been wearing needs to be replaced Seeing as I work in them, they are put through a great deal of wear and tear. During the winter I work in snow, and during the summer I work in 95 degree heat and There is comfort in their presence. They are so comfortable that I can run for extended periods of time without feeling my feet hurt. You can easily put it on and take it off with the zipper on the side. The bottom treads on these shoes are nice and they bend well with your foot. types of boots you hold onto even if you buy new ones because you can still use your old ones while out in nature. My old pair of shoes and my new pair of shoes are not going to be thrown.

A Deputy with happy feet is a Deputy with a happy job
5/5

I went out on a limb and bought these boots while they were still available since I am a big guy and it is hard to find footwear that fits me properly. I got hooked up with Bates 2 years ago and loved the ones I had, but they were discontinued. It has been one week since I have been wearing them, and I have not experienced any discomfort. It turns out that they are slightly longer than expected, but I rather have my toes in the toe box than not be able to move. It wouldn't be a good choice if you didn't have You can get them at a reasonable price, wear them well, look good and they will last a long time. The belt doesn't smell, doesn't cause fatigue, and doesn't blow a zipper. I wear them on 10hr shifts and so far I haven't had any problems with them. It is my hope that this review leads you to the right decision.

boots took a long time to break in (about 6 months) and the bates boot was cheaper and seemed to be better than both
5/5

After a week, the review is After seven years of service and several zippers, my Milwaukee zipper motorcycle riding boot wore out the soles after a few years. I purchased this boot to replace it. While the Milwaukee zipper was repaired, I also had a hiking/work boot with steel toes that I used for MC riding as well (between zipper repairs). boots took a long time to break in (about 6 months) and the bates boot was cheaper and seemed to be better than both. The following types of boots do not have steel or composite toes With this version of the Bates boot, I will not be getting steel toes, but in my opinion, the toe section will protect me if I were to get in an I have not even had them a week and I find them a lot more comfortable and my feet do not sweat as much as in my former MC boots. I can probably lace them to wear two sets of socks if I need additional room for swelling resulting from an active ride. The zipper is a little hard to get on, but I have some room to cover my feet after an active ride. br>Acting all alone There is one large benefit to this shoe, the rubber sole is wide and has a wide space between these tracks - so it does a really great job of keeping my foot in contact with the ground, I don't slide, as I was previously having a problem with this shoe. The last time I dumped my bike was in the past.

A great boot update on 5/30/19 comfortable and a great fit

(10/10/18Just ordered my second pair of these boots, which appeared to last me about one year. I've been wearing them for 20 to 25 foot patrol miles per week. I'm very pleased with them. I've This business ranks high in terms of customer service and is a good one, too. Not only have they been forced into outsourcing over the last decade, but their patrol boots selection also seems to have decreased. In short, I believe that this boot is an excellent purchase not only because it is half the price but also because it has a much larger toe compartment since it does not have a toe shield built in like the others in the line. It has been a whole day since I received my custom orthotics, put them on my feet, and have been patrolling without feeling the pain of having hammertoes, corns, or bunions. I'm 68 and work part time as a security guard at a facility where I'm always on my feet the whole time. This is a pair of boots I recommend highly. Boots online were never something I would have thought of doing.

It's a fatal flaw if the design is flawed
3/5

It seems like Batey did not consider the reason we would buy a side zipper boot instead of a pull-on boot, ease of use. It would be much better if these boots had a pull tab or a pull loop to enable them to be pulled over the heel of your shoe. I barely had enough laces to tie my rabbit ears and it appears they skimped on the laces as well. As long as all things are fair, once you've laces them up and get them on, they're In spite of standing for 8 hours on concrete floor every day, I tried wearing them today without any break-in period and found that they did not cause any pain to me. These boots would have been a 5 star product if Bates paid a little more attention to detail. However, because I will have to buy new laces and because they are a total pain in the *** to put on,.

I like these boots a lot
5/5

In a literal sense, I wear boots all day, every day. Those for church have also been worn by me. (I wear them 360 days a year, as my wife drives me crazy) I still take my boots along, just in case. (My wife makes me wear sneakers on vacation). This pair of boots fits the bill for a good pair of comfortable boots. I work in an industry where we are constantly on our feet, walking on concrete, doing mechanic work to digging Since I have mentioned that I want to have comfortable feet, that's what I want. As they are light, they are comfortable to walk in, yet sturdy enough to hold up to wear and tear. It is so easy and quick to put on and take off thanks to the zip up the side feature. I have had no problems with zippers in any of my three pairs of BATES boots. During the first few weeks of wearing the shoes, you may have to re-do the strings a couple times to keep them from flopping around on your feet (unless you like them loose), but that is of no concern. When the weather gets hot, they won't sweat, and they won't freeze when the weather gets cold. Simply put, these boots are great for any situation.

However, apart from these two things (the worn vinyl cuff and the nylon side being torn from road rash), the boot has held up well
5/5

The boots are such good quality that I just bought a second pair. Since my previous pair (which I am currently wearing) lasted for about 3 years, I've found that the new ones will last longer. It started out as a riding boot that I purchased, but quickly turned into shoes I wore everyday. My shoes have proven quite durable and have even withstood a motorcycle accident quite well. My foot was pinned to the ground and I was dragged 50 feet by the bike. A portion of the nylon shell was worn away at the ankle ball joint, but the padding and material underneath remained strong. Within 3 years, the outer covering of the vinyl cuff at the top of the boots had worn down to the mesh that holds the fabric in place. Besides these two things (worn vinyl cuff and nylon side ripped apart due to road rash), the boots have already held up great and of great comfort and wearability.
