Questions & Answers
They're not the same. The sole has a more cushioned feel to it.
They were given to me by my husband, and he is very happy with them. It's super squishy and cozy. Your feet don't slip when wet if you have a good arch. The size is accurate.
No, the heel does not have any additional openers or gadgets. A plain black rubber sole is all there is to it.
These shoes are much tighter for people with wide feet than the Fannings I bought in 2016, but they feel much more cushioned.

In comparison to the Reef Manning sandals, these are extremely comfortable. Like the Mannings, it doesn't include a bottle opener, but that was more of a novelty.
(Update: Reef took the initiative to rectify the situation). After reading all of the positive reviews, I bought these in March of 2018 and they fell apart after only a month. I glued them back together at first, but it only lasted a short time, so I realized they were covered by a one-year warranty for manufacturer defects, so I contacted Reef to file a claim with photos, purchase information, and issues, but I have yet to hear back (I've been trying for over three months). Despite the fact that I contacted them several times and completed a claim form in its entirety, it took them five months to respond. Their lack of response has angered me greatly. br>br>12/11: br>br>Edit: Reef responded quickly and sent me a new pair of Reef Rovers; as a result, I'm raising the rating to 4 stars because I liked the flip flops overall, so we'll see how these new ones hold up.
These are extremely comfortable to wear - I was getting ready to go on vacation when the strap of my old Reef flip-flops broke. I'd just gotten rid of my flip-flops, so I went to Amazon to order these. Normally, I'm a 9 out of ten. 5 size, but due to the lack of half-size options, I ordered a size 9 pair as well as a size 10 pair. I couldn't get into the 10s when they arrived. The ten-inch sole is plenty roomy, but the strap was far too tight. As a result, I had to return both pairs and order another pair in size 11 in a hurry. The 11s' strap was just right for my foot (which is a "normally proportioned" size 9). The sandals are extremely comfortable (I'm 5 feet tall). The sole, on the other hand, now has plenty of room around my foot. So, in any case, you'll almost certainly want to order a size larger than you normally wear to allow enough room for your foot to fit within the strap. Of course, the strap cannot be adjusted. The strap had not stretched at all after a week of vacation wear.
The good: These flip flops are among the most comfortable I've ever worn. They provide excellent arch support and are a perfect fit. After a few weeks, the foam molds to your foot shape perfectly. The fit is snug enough to keep them in place, but not so snug that they become uncomfortable. They're comfortable enough to wear all day, including hiking. The disadvantages: br>br> I would have given them 5 stars if the part that goes between your toes hadn't started to pull away from the sandal after only 2 months. That piece appears to be made up of two materials that have been glued together - a suede and a cloth component - The cloth is still attached to the sandal, but the suede has peeled away. To be fair, I've worn them every day for a couple months and put them through a lot of wear, but I expect a pair of sandals at this price point to last a lot longer than that. br>br>In the end, I'm afraid I'll have to buy another pair because they're so comfortable. I'm hoping the poor quality of construction on this pair was just a fluke. However, if the next pair only lasts a few months, I'll start looking for something else.
Flip flops are not my favorite footwear. They usually hurt my feet and make it impossible for me to walk very far in them. Because I've always lived near the beach, I've owned a lot of pairs over the years. My previous two pairs were Quicksilvers, and while they were of good quality, they hurt my feet and lacked much of an arch to support them. So I bought these and they've changed my mind about flip flops because they're so comfortable. The best I've ever owned in terms of comfort. The sole is soft and cushiony, similar to that of running shoes, and the upper is made of a rubbery material similar to that of a wet suit, making it comfortable to wear. It is highly recommended and well worth the money.
I bought these with the intention of wearing them in wet weather. On wet surfaces, they can be dangerously slick. You'll be down on the floor in a split second if you step on wet tile or if your shoes are wet and you step on tile. br>The soles will not hold tiled surfaces; I ended up in the ER after falling and hitting my head so hard on the sink that I couldn't get up. When I was down in a restaurant, I also sliced my thumb open on the tile floor. br>Do yourself a favor and avoid these potentially hazardous flip-flops. Reefs are good, but not this model's sole; I believe Reef should at the very least replace mine with a model with a real rubber sole, since I'm not suing Reef or the restaurant for false advertising. I'll be on the lookout for a response.
I considered purchasing a second pair as a backup, but instead chose to try the Reef Rover, which appears to be a higher-end sandal. So I ordered a pair in a size 10 (the same as my Phantoms) and was disappointed to find that they were not as comfortable as my Phantoms. The arch and heel support are improved, but that is about it. The strap is far too stiff and constricting. In fact, the strap is so tight that it squeezes my foot, causing my foot to be pushed out slightly and my heel to hang over the flip flop as I walk. And that's bad because it's easy for me to twist an ankle walking like that. Maybe my feet are too wide, but it's strange that the Phantoms fit perfectly, but these are too tight. These Rovers are probably better suited to people with narrow feet. I'm going to return these and get a new pair of Phantoms instead.
I mostly only buy reef sandals because they are so comfortable. Having said that, these are some of the most comfortable everyday sandals I've ever owned. On your feet, the footbed is fantastic. The straps are extremely comfortable and require little to no break-in time; however, the leather version will require break-in. I've only had these for two weeks and will report back if there are any issues, but don't expect them to last much longer than a year. The footbed will become thinner and less comfortable as a result of the compression. However, they are unlikely to break. I also wear them to the beach and in the sea because that is one of the reasons this model was created. If you buy from Amazon, you'll save $20. Prices are $30 higher than in stores. These, as well as the Phantom, are excellent water sandals.
