Questions & Answers

Is this pair of boots water resistant?

With these and other outdoor appearances, it appears that this will not be the case indefinitely. The Quest has been with me for three years. Hundreds of miles of hiking with lots of puddles and streams stood up to the test. Although the boots are still in good condition, the waterproofing has recently failed. You might need to use a little boot glue and waterproofing after a year or so. I'm going to leave the beeswax out this time. I'm on my own in bear territory. Honey is the scent of beeswax.

Should I spray a protectant on these boots, despite the fact that they are waterproof?

GORTEX will keep water out of your home if it rains - In my experience with gortex, prolonged soaking does soak through. Using a camping waterproofer, such as for tents or other items, will extend the amount of time you can drench it or leave it in the water without it soaking through. may affect breathability, but I haven't had any issues with similar boots in the past, and the stuff washes off or wears off eventually.

100% synthetic so no leather on the uppers according to the description ?

Yes, it's synthetic with a leather-like overlay from Sweden. They're great boots, but go up a half size.

What is the difference between wren/bungee and wren/bungee/green sulfur in terms of color? They are both brown in color, according to this listing. Is that the case?

Green sulphur, wren, and bungee cord are not brown. I have a pair that are Army/Olive green in color. Out of the box, this is the most comfortable boot. It was as if there was no need for a break-in period, unlike most new boots. The mission trail is straight ahead of you.

Out of the box, this item is in excellent condition
5/5

These boots are incredible. I first tried these on at a local REI store to make sure they were the right size. My Brooks GTS 17 tennis shoes (size 13) and these boots (size 13) were both in the same size range for me. The boots were comfortable right out of the box, and I wore them around the house for a few days before taking them on a 45-mile hike, where I wore boot socks without a sock liner and had no blisters by the end of the first day. I experimented with a few different lacing options before settling on one that worked for me. We hiked another ten miles the next day, this time through some pretty rocky terrain and thick vegetation. With the exception of some pretty extreme angles, the boots gripped well in almost every situation. I crossed a few streams on logs and had excellent grip. The next day, there were no blisters. We walked 25 miles the other day, averaging 19 minutes per mile. That was it; by the end of the day, I had a nickel-shaped blister on the ball of my foot. After that, I examined the boots and noticed some minor gouging out of the soles (about the size of a dime), but nothing serious. The fabric held up well, and because they're Gortex, they're a little warm, but they performed admirably in my opinion.

They aren't strong enough to withstand the test of time
3/5

New boots ruined an elk hunt in Colorado. These came highly recommended, so I bought them for an elk hunt in Colorado. Prior to my hunt, I put about 20 miles on them and they fit perfectly. The comfort, sturdiness, and traction of these boots are unmatched. Unfortunately, I have to give this product a two-star rating because my boots failed miserably in two areas during my six-day hunt. My feet get wet from walking through wet grass with gators on (which covered the majority of the boot except for the toes and bottom sides), but the tow portion of the boat, which goes back about 4 inches, gets pretty wet and soaks right through my boots and socks. I could see soaking these boots through the toe to the inside if I was crossing a stream or walking through a lot of puddles, but these boots should never get wet soaked through the toe to the inside from walking through wet grass. The rubber on the toe portion of the boot began to delaminate, which was my second issue. These boots were not cheap by any means, and I purposefully purchased extremely high-end footwear. I bought good boots so that I wouldn't have any problems, but I've only had them for two months and have only hiked about 50 miles in them, and they're already ripping out. They're also not water-resistant.

The boots are comfortable, but the waterproofing is limited
3/5

For many training hikes and mountain summits, I've worn the Quest 4d 3 as my primary hiking boots. The longest treks were to South Sister and Mount Marcy. The quest has performed admirably as a dry-weather hiking boot and has lasted many miles. With the exception of some heel rub after four miles, it was comfortable right out of the box and works well with superfeet blue inserts. I solved the problem by wearing wool socks with coolmax liner socks. The gortex liner failed to function properly after a few months, earning it a three-star rating. When I stepped in a puddle on Mount Marcy, I could feel water seeping in over my toes. It was only because of my incredibly tough socks that I was able to walk 15 miles without getting my feet wet. I would have bought the non-gtx version for the extra air circulation if I didn't need the water proof feature. br>I contacted Salomon regarding a warranty claim, and they responded quickly. I was able to get a different model (x alp ltr) because of their excellent customer service. In wet conditions, I'm hoping these will perform better.

It's well worth the money, and it's dependable and long-lasting
5/5

Before this, I ran in SpeedCross4s with the previous version. Salomon is one of my favorites. I took them to Yosemite, Big Sur, the Colorado Rockies, Banff, Glacier, North Carolina, and numerous rocky wet trails in Pennsylvania over the course of three years. Until the very end, it remained waterproof. I didn't realize how badly they had degraded because they were held together so well. The new boots have better tread than the old ones and are much lighter. Fit gives the same sense of security and comfort. I'll keep you updated on the durability. Certain colors will magically change from 230 to 180 if you keep an eye on them. Color isn't a big deal for me. Saving $50 for camp food and beer, on the other hand, is a significant accomplishment!.

Salomon Boots for the First Time; Some of the Asolo's were replaced
5/5

They are appealing to me. Normally, I only purchase Salomon sneakers, but these are my first pair of Salomon boots. I haven't taken them on a backpacking trip, but I have worn them on four separate occasions. Hikes of up to four miles There is no need to break in. When tied, they have a nice tight fit around the ankles. The clips that keep them from coming undone are very useful. They aren't waterproof at all times of the times My feet stayed dry as I stood in a 4" stream and walked around. These were purchased to replace a pair of Asolo's that began to get my feet wet even when there was only dew on the grass. A repeat in the same conditions as I said 20100% waterproof repeat in the same conditions as I said 100% waterproof repeat in% The tread design is appealing to me, and it provides excellent traction. As I saw on YouTube, this is a fantastic three-season boot.

These boots, like many others have said, fall apart, and Saloman has terrible customer service
3/5

They're comfortable, but flip flops are as well. On my third hike with them, the soles of my shoes started to fall apart. The first two hikes were both three miles long. In less than three weeks from the date of purchase, I hiked 4 miles to break them in, then a 10 mile hike two weeks later, and they came apart. After two months, I'm still battling Saloman customer noservice. My recommendation is to purchase a higher-quality boot or work with a company that provides better customer service.
