6ft 225 average build with a little belly, size Large fits perfectly, I'm able to wear an insulated flannel underneath. I like this vest better than my old Carhartt vest, which was incredibly stiff. In addition to the large pockets, there is an interior pocket with velcro closure , which is also large and angled. It would be great if there was an inside pocket as well. The collar had a pucker that I couldn't remove, but my wife was able to flatten it in a matter of minutes. In other words, the vest fits perfectly if I'm not moving, but when it's zip up, it fits tight around my waist when I bend down, making it uncomfortable. I will try an XL when I return. The brown XL is a bit large on me, but it's no longer tight in the waist and length, so it's not as big as I'd like it to be. When it wears in and shrinks, I will see how it handles it.
It's more casual than you might expect. Vests are a fantastic addition to hoodies for people who like wearing them. A tie can be worn with it, but most everything else can be worn with it. Considering the price is half that of Carhart, I didn't expect the same level of quality, but it does the job. This was a present I got for my husband for Christmas. I thought this might be good for him, because we live on a farm and he is always working outside. With a big jacket, he gets too hot, so I thought it would be nice. His favorite part is that he loves The jacket is worn all the time under an insulated flannel. A thick canvas, this fabric is strong and I can see him getting many years of usage out of it. I imagine it is of the same, if not better, quality as Carhart clothing, and less than half the price. I would recommend it to anyone who is on the fence about buying it.
