Questions & Answers
This is the type of boot used by structural ironworkers. I used to wear them in the trade for over 30 years. So, yes, they're about as good as it gets for metal walking.
The toes on the 83606s are made of aluminum. The 83605 is a soft toe shoe. The SOFT TOE Irish Setters are known as the 83605's.
They have a non-marking outer layer that is relatively soft. My house has a standing seam metal roof with no problems, but it is not overly steep. Boots that are extremely comfortable!
From the first time you put them on, you'll notice how comfortable they are. I believe you may require a plantar facitis insert.

They're on my person all of the time. At 3 p. m. , I wore them. 30 A. I take them out around 6 p. m. before I leave for work. 00 P. When I come inside and lock everything up, some days are much longer than others. In a nutshell, I adore them; I'm on my third pair and plan to buy more. A good pair of boots for $100 is a steal! They aren't clumsy or cumbersome in any way. They're actually quite light, in my opinion. I walk on concrete all day, with a little gravel and dirt thrown in for good measure, and I'm rough on them. When I went elk hunting this year, I took off my expensive hunting boots and wore these for the remainder of my 9-day hunt. If you're on the fence about buying them, go ahead and do it. br>br>I added two photos: The older, worn-out pair dates back two years. The newer pair has only been together for two months.
After a 350-pound man wears the Irish Setter boots for 8 hours, this is what they look like. 6 days a week, working with water, mud, dirt, drilling, and grinding on concrete, pavement, and construction wood floors. I wasn't expecting the soles to last as long as they did.
I've had these boots for a little more than a year and have worn them a lot. I run a machine shop at a university, so it's not the most difficult job in the world, but they hold up well in a light manufacturing environment. (We teach more than we machine at our shop. ) They're as comfortable as they're going to get, and they're a lot better than my old Wolverines. 2- I am on my feet the entire day I've been very happy working on concrete three days a week. One thing I've noticed is that when the temperature drops below freezing, the soles become harder (I can hear them clicking like dress shoes), and their traction in the snow suffers as a result. Traction appears to be better in warmer temperatures because the compound of the soles remains softer and performs well.
Very comfortable boots; I've had them for four months and would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a pair of comfortable boots. These are true to size; I went half an inch smaller than usual. I usually get 11s in shoes, but I decided to take a chance and go with the 10. They were a perfect fit for me at 5 inches in height. br>br>Updatebr>I've had these shoes for a year and they're still going strong. The material is holding up well and the comfort is excellent. When the time comes, I'll most likely purchase another pair. br>br>Update 2/21/20br>br>I've had these boots for two years and work in commercial HVAC. They've managed to hang on for the time being. The soles are beginning to wear out, and I've noticed that the thickness isn't the same in the front, and there are a few cracks, but the shoes are still comfortable, with no water seeping in. Within the next three months, I will undoubtedly purchase a new pair. br>br>Update 6/17/2020br>I decided to buy another pair after two years and three months. The old boots' soles had deteriorated to the point where they were no longer waterproof. I was very pleased with how long they lasted, and I have no complaints.
I tried Timberland pro boots before, which required an insole to be comfortable, and I almost went with Wolverine this time, but too many reviews said they fell apart after a few months. So I decided to give them a shot. For the past two months, I have spoken about 10-minutes every day. These boots were worn for 12 hours a day. They have a badass appearance to them. Although the moc toe is timeless, the boot appears to be tough. They are much lighter than I anticipated, broke in quickly, clean up easily, keep my feet comfortable and dry if I step in a puddle, and the color is spot on. The only disadvantage is that if you stand in an inch or two of water for an extended period of time, the water will seep into your socks. The finish of the boot will be stained as a result of this, as well as certain chemicals/cleaners. If these last a year, I'm going to buy another pair.
I've had these for about 5 months and haven't had any issues with them. In the office, they look and work great (and are relatively non-toxic). For us, the formal setting) and in the field are both important. Wear them 3 times per week for a total of 10 hours, as comfortable as a work boot can/should be. I have a tendency to drag my heels in my stride, but the soles have held up well so far. I considered the Red Wings Heritage line, but the significant price difference, as well as the lack of break-in time, made it unsuitable for what I do (occasionally get these boots wet). as soon as possible - This was the best route to take. This purchase has left me completely satisfied.
I've never had a more comfortable pair of boots in my life, and after 35 years in the workforce and countless hours on my feet on concrete, these boots are perfect! If you have wide feet, these will be too tight for you. I'm a c/d width and they are just a smidgeon too tight for me. In a week or two, it'll be perfect! The leather is thick and has a subtle sheen to it.
Two stars because they are very well made and look great. I got a lot of compliments when I was wearing them. The issue is that these boots' toe boxes are so small that they were never comfortable to wear. I thought the problem would get better as time went on, but it didn't. They're in, but they're still awful after six months of fairly regular use.
