As I have repeatedly worn this hat and a previous one without the liner for hours on days in the low 90s with 65% humidity, I am not aware of any problems. It is cheap to buy and it has no spring, so if you allow it to loosen it will loosen pretty fast (this is important when you are running on windy days when you have your hat blown off your head sometimes at very inconvenient times). This was a pain in the butt, but eventually I got it through by tying the two ends with a narrow nylon string and pulling the string through, pulling the two straps through with it (it still required some effort, maneuvering, It seems that the hat is about as well constructed as one could reasonably expect from a straw hat without spending an extraordinary amount of money on it. In general, I wear these types of hats from April through October. They usually last me through two summers before I need to replace them, and I appreciate it since I wear them five days a week. Since I work outside during peak UV sun hours, wearing sunscreen and sweating it into my eyes is a pain. I don't have to deal with that nonsense while wearing this hat.

There were several pictures I should have taken more notice of. It is most useful to wear a straw hat on hot days to block the sun. There is a black textile liner that traps heat on your head when the hat is worn. This is totally counterproductive to what a straw hat should be used for. Aside from that, it fits nicely and appears to be of good quality. Perhaps it would be beneficial to you if you live in a cold, sunny place.

I love this hat so much that I bought the second one of the same brand/model/style. I love the black lining because it blocks out heat and the sun. The first hat I bought lasted throughout the summer and I expect that it will last through the fall and maybe into next spring and I bought a second one (the second one was purchased on Amazon) because I loved the first so much. After searching for hours to find a hat that fits, looks good, and blocks out the sun, I finally found it. Rather than a ball cap, this is a better choice. the lined hat kept me from perspiring as much as a baseball cap or an unlined straw hat did.

The package arrived quickly, in good condition, and in a large box. The straw hat was made in China. My hat size is between 7 3/8 and 71/2 (Tilley sizes). It has a high crown and very wide brim with a brim glare shield and a sweat band made of black fabric. It's a good one - Suitable for all I find the hat a little snug overall. I liked it, but it was a little tight. It does not matter that the cord is cotton and the knob is wood. If you want a light straw hat that provides ventilated sun protection (not high style), this will work as long as your hat size is less than 7 3/8 and you desire It was used during the summer to paint my house and for gardening. The update is A second one, which I bought for a loose 7 3/8, was half a size bigger than the first. For a 7 1/2 head, both might be a little tight.

Sadly, this is not as attractive as the Quicksilver or Billabong hats which are not as well constructed. Although, it is definitely the best straw hat on Amazon that I have purchased, there is something subtle about the design and color that is not as attractive. I'll use it anyway, because I have to put function above fashion and slow the inevitable here. I am certain this one will outlast all the others, but will continue to look for a better one This hat is well made and looks great. This elastic band would be great on the Billabong hat. The Billabong hat is the best looking of the bunch and is sturdy, but fits like a paper birthday hat and does not work well in a light breeze.

Obviously, the cord can be tightened so it does not blow off in the wind, and the brim will not bend when the wind blows. This straw hat has a lining of black fabric where the brim contacts so there is some level of spf protection. The only thing that made me a little sad is that it arrived with a crack in the brim since it was not packaged securely by the seller that I purchased it from. Although I got it five days earlier than expected, I was still very happy to receive it and did not want to return it. I was just about to leave for a beach camping trip so I was able to use it then. Because it is straw and therefore unable to be folded or stuffed into a suitcase, it is clearly not something that can be folded or stuffed.

I am happy with the product that I received.
