We have washed it by hand a few times, but it has also been put into the dishwasher. I've tried other silicone bib brands on Amazon and found this one to be thicker. The only downside is that when you open the package, you are immediately hit with a very strong chemical smell. It took a few uses for the odor to vanish, but it went away eventually.
