Either I bought knockoffs or Gillette's quality has deteriorated dramatically. These are not the ones I purchase at the store. AVOID!.
I've had a beard for a few years and haven't used razors in that time, but I recently went clean shaven and purchased these Mach 3 razors. I've been using Mach 3 for a long time, dating back to when it first came out. br>br>I have a very different memory of those razors. They were razor-sharp and stayed that way for a long time; these Amazon ones couldn't even cut my beard on the first pass. I wouldn't recommend using them for a second or third shave because of the poor quality. br>br>I'm wondering if these are counterfeit blades because of the poor quality. I won't be buying anything else.
I've had the misfortune of having to use the worst. I purchased these in an attempt to save money on a blade, and WHAT A MISTAKE! These blades are a complete waste of time. Because the blade is so dull when new, you have to PULL it across your face. You'll never get anything close to a good shave, and the constant attempt to get closer will rip your face apart. These are better for chopping meat than shaving. I'm returning them to the Massachusetts town of Gillette! accompanied by a letter NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER Schick is where I went!.
It could be my imagination, but I don't get as close a shave with these blades as I did with the Mach III, which I considered to be one of the best shaves available. br>Gillette could be slashing quality to keep costs low in order to compete with so many upstart razor brands, or it could be attempting to make the Mach III obsolete so that customers switch to their 5 blade models, which get clogged with hair and are poorly designed. It makes no difference; what matters is that they don't do what they're supposed to do, which is provide a close shave without causing irritation. Unless I shave against the grain (which is a bad idea, especially on the neck), there are hairs that are virtually impossible to cut because they lie so close to the skin, and if I shave against the grain, I'm almost guaranteed to get ingrown hairs, which are painful, unsightly, and take time to heal even if I can quickly dislodge the trapped hair growing under the skin. br>These razors are good for a quick clean-up and shaving other parts of the body, but for regular beard shaving, I would strongly recommend investing in a mercur double edge safety razor with feather blades. It's a little more expensive up front, but it pays for itself over time and gives you a much better shave, even if you don't use a shaving brush or shave soap. It also comes with the following advantages: br>br>It's better for the environmentbr>It's cheaperbr>There are fewer or no ingrown hairsbr>It's great for sensitive skin. br>br>Feather blades are extremely sharp and comfortable, and cutting hairs with them does not require multiple swipes. Don't be a wimp when it comes to your health. Try an old-fashioned double-edged safety razor, as I recommend. (especially Mercur)br> You will not be disappointed.
I put four razors in the refill cartridge as a backup, and two months later, they're all rusted! I've never had that problem with other brands. The quality of Gillette's products is poor.
For the past 16 years, I've used this razor. br>br> I'm aware that new technology has emerged, but I honestly don't see how it could be superior to the Mark III. They have four and five blade razors, but I believe they are overdoing it. This provides enough blades for a clean shave without being so many that you risk razor burn. I've never felt the need for a transition, and I'm now 30 years old, and I'll keep using this razor as long as it's made.
Free shave; these don't have the lubricant strip and hurt; for some reason, quality Mach 3 razor blades aren't available on Amazon. I'm finished with my second attempt.
Mach3 razor blades, oh how I miss them. I know I can always rely on them for a close shave, and they're always cheaper on Amazon than at Walmart or elsewhere. br>br>I haven't noticed any difference between "old" and "new" blades. Over the last 15 years, every Mach3 blade I've used has consistently delivered the same shave.
