Product Description

A straight razor strop made from leather sharpening straps that will fit any 20" barber strop

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this product to sharpen a real straight razor instead of just disposable ones?

Without a doubt! You'll obtain an excellent edge from it.

So, what color side should the stroping compound be applied ?

For your primary polishing, I recommend that you find an old leather belt (Garage sales are great for finding old belts) and use that with the compound. In the next step, I use the rough side to clean the blade and then use the fine smooth side for final finishing. If you wear your strop this way, it will last much longer.

Is it best to use the back side of my pocket knife first?

My light side is used after I have sharpened the stone with the dark side. It is not necessary for me to use compounds and I have had a great experience with it

It looks like a thick strap. What is its thickness?

There is a leather portion that is only about an eighth of an inch thick, but the whole strop is about 1/4"

A good strop, also of a high quality, and it was received within a short period of time! This is what I ordered for use with my knives to strop them
5/5

In the product that I received, I received it rolled in a coil without any flaws, imperfections, or issues. Counting from the top of the leather to the end of the handle, the strop is roughly 20 inches long. It's the side that has extremely light tan leather that I'll leave it as it is since I've already made a stropping board I can use which has a buffing compound coated on one side of it. My plan is to use the light tan side of this leather strop as a cleaning strop for my knife blades and the dark tan as a final polishing side. Before I final strop my knife blades, I use the suede side of the knife strop to clean them. There was no eyelet ring on the strop but there is a looped hook for hanging and, to be honest, I like the hook I got better than the one it came with. This strop measures 2 inches wide by 3 inches long. I found that I had no problems stropping my knives, including my Spyderco Manix 2 Xl with a 3 inch strop. The blade is 88 inches long. As a strop, it is of excellent quality for the price and works quite The knives on my hands are razor sharp after a few minutes of work with my stropping tools. bought a second strop for my son as a gift because I liked the first so much. This is a good product, and I give it a rating of I'm happy with it. It's of good quality, it was delivered sooner than expected, and it's affordable.

The three-point plan is not to be misunderstood You must rate the stars
3/5

Honestly, I would never give something so simple a rating lower than three stars. This is a strip of leather with hooks on both ends. As far as I can tell, the only way it can go wrong is if it disintegrates, and the only way it could impress me is if, for example, it sharpened knives when I waved them at it. While it still works fine and does what it should, it didn't come from magic wizards nor does it transform me into Therefore, I will give you three suggestions The one-star review indicates that one has found this simple item to be exactly what it is supposed to be and does not indicate any flaws.

The Ninja Mall Warrior Sword is not meant for you! We do not recommend this strop for those who plan to strop their Ninja Mall Warrior swords
5/5

When it comes to making a razor edge for knives up to about 5 inches long (and even longer once you understand the technique), this is an excellent choice. The actual working surface is 2 inches by 16 inches and is very well made using According to some reviews, it has a bent nail for a hook and that may be true, but it is actually an 18d nail which is well shaped and chromed and therefore much stronger than you might have thought. Having been a sharpener and knife collector for well over 60 years, I can say that this is a great deal for the price it will last just as long as strops costing more than six times as much, but it will have less surface area. If you need to polish the edge of your leather belt, it is much better to use an old leather belt with polishing compound and then use a strop to finalize the work. Using a strop after I've cleaned the blade with a belt, I use the back (rough textured side) of the strop to truly clean it, before using the lighter smooth side for final touch-ups. Using the Woodstock D 2901 extra fine compound is a great choice. Additionally, I highly recommend you watch some YouTube videos and sharpen an old knife so you get a feel for it very quickly. You will develop a little muscle memory when you begin practicing they way the pros do, and your knives will be sharpened like a pro in no time. Storing your strop indoors in a cool, dry place is the best way to maintain its quality. It's definitely worth your time!.

There is no comparison between the quality of the single strop and the three-strop According to MAR 2017 and JUN 2017, the pack strop has been reorganized
5/5

The leather/suede strop I use to maintain our restaurant's 12 knives of asymmetrical, symmetrical, and convex edges was purchased as a gift from my boss as part of a swag bag. There are three types of convexity concave, concave and wedge You can also choose edge profiles. On the darker side (rough suede), I perform a preliminary cleaning and stropping of each knife (20 times per knife). Approximately 5" of each blade along its length, beginning at the heel and ending at the To hone the blade, I use the lighter side (15 laps per one) to do a fine stroke over it on the smooth leather to hone it to a sharp edge. On each blade, along the length (from heel to tip), about 5" are cut away. The edge of our knives (garasuki, honesuki, santoku, gyuto, cleavers and French-style knives) is maintained each day for 6 nights a week by doing this We should be able to use knives (such as kitchen knives) as long as possible before we have to use whetstones to re-hone them Grinding and actually sharpening the edges will result in better performance. The product I purchased in Mar 2017 when I purchased only one (1) instance of it is quite good Choosing the right materials and construction is crucial The quality of the fit and finish was good, and it appears to have been made in the US. As the handle was solid, yet soft to the touch because of its filling and padding, the grip was comfortable to hold. As seen in the current image, the overall construction and stitching appeared the same as in the current picture. The 3-day course is definitely worth the price, but I recently purchased the 3-day course The quality of the strops was quite poor in the pack version I received a few months later in JUN 2017 (I am teaching my kitchen staff how to strop and hone their own blades), the pack version actually contained more strops By a factor of 0, the strops get shorter. The 50" measurement It seems that the stitching may be weaker the ends of the stitches look frayed The wrapping material is thinner than expected and the cuts and edges don't match up The handle of the instrument is made from a lighter synthetic material without padding or filling. The new 3-section strop does not have an adjustable angle, so they may not be perfect for all knives however, I was able to use one (1x) to service all 12 knives in one night, so perhaps my complaints about the new 3-section strops were unfounded. The cosmetic aspects of a pack are purely superficial. However, this 5-year period has proved to be a difficult one A single star is given for each product This is my first purchase of this product if the seller could guarantee that this product is as good as the one I received in MAR 2017, I would definitely buy.

If you're considering buying, read this carefully before you do
4/5

There are two problems with the product. The quality of the product is good, but there are a couple of problems with the design. There was a small defect on the strop, but overall the quality is good. A tiny tear or cut appears to have occurred, which may have no bearing on the ability to restore the edge but it may also do so. A second problem is that, although I admit this was my mistake and I should have checked In order to use the full blade of the razor, the belt needs to be wider. In other words, it's more of a travel strop than anything else, so I'd recommend a different choice. That is, unless you want Having said that, there is a technique for stripping a razor with this problem. If you plan on using one like this, you can find it on YouTube.
