If you are asking if you were asking for quality purposes or for visual purposes, I think you need polish on a polished blade. However, I have a powder coated blade and as long as I keep the edge sharp, it works fine. As a side note, I still use this belt, but would advise one with multiple layers and a longer length. This may be of some help
