Questions & Answers
You should look up some YouTube videos or other information on how to use and maintain a straight razor properly. On a dull razor, use a hard strop with compound. The flexible barbers strop, on the other hand, is used for shaving without the use of compound. Any microburr on the straight razor is apparently rolled and broken by friction and heat. Using a hard strop with any compound will most likely dull a razor that is otherwise sharp.
With this strope, I tried all three compounds. They can be stacked one on top of the other, or I split each side in half with the compounds, leaving a fourth side with only the leather. This is an excellent system, and I am extremely pleased with it.
I have a four-sided paddle strop by the strop man, and he included four compounds: black, white, green, and finally red, which is supposedly the lightest. On my four-sided paddle strop, I only use black, white, and green, leaving the last side plain leather. Now I specifically bought the four-sided strop, and the black, white, and green compounds to not only achieve a better edge, but the black in particular will remold your knife. When honing with synthetic stones, if you hone an edge long enough, a fin forms at the apex of both bevels, or the intersection of the bevels, and it's impossible to avoid when using synthetic stones. There are other products that will remove this fin, but I wanted to remove the fin using the black and white compounds, so I now use the green compound solely to refine the edge.br>If you're not honing the edge and only using the strop to improve an otherwise serviceable edge (no chips, fairly sharp), I would probably use only the green compound. Others may have more innovative and better ideas.

Strop of a decent size. Well-made, with excellent fit and finish. br>Use the included leather string to hang it up when not in use. br>There are three different types of abrasives. br>Comes with two sides, and I'm sure I'll purchase a second strop to use all three abrasives. br>br>Thank you for a well-made product. br>On the other hand, this item requires a warning label. br>"Using this strop may become addictive"br>Thank you once more.
It included three compounds (red) coarse, (green) medium, and (white) fine, which were simple to apply to the high-quality leather. I was worried that because my benchmade has D2 steel, this wouldn't work, but it did. I started with the coarsest grit and worked my way up to the fine grit. Wow is all I have to say. I could shave before using this because I already had a nice edge, which is necessary before stropping, but it shaved without resistance or sound afterward. Only thing I'd change is to make the handle a little thicker and to seal the wood. Aside from that, great product and quick delivery. Thanks!.
Strop is a high-quality product that is delivered quickly. The polishing compounds, however, are not to my liking: They're a little too waxy. The polishing compounds would probably work well on an electric buffer, but they contain far too much lubricant to be used as a hand stropping polish.
This is something I'd buy again. It's just too small for me!.
br>The only thing I would have liked was for it to be a little bigger; the size is a little small. br>The polishing compounds are effective. br>I've noticed a slight separation between the leather and the wood, but it hasn't caused me any problems so far.
This strop is a favorite of mine. It appears to be of a high standard. However, I wish they had provided a description of the three different compounds that were sent with it.
It's quite effective. I've used it to strop dozens of knives and am pleased with the results.
Even though I knew exactly what I was getting, hope springs eternal, and I was disappointed. Too short, too rocky, and too simple to navigate- Containment If I hadn't known about the flaws ahead of time, I would have given this strop five stars, but I can't give a product five stars just because I can't think of anything else, so there you have it. Here's what I'm going to do: br>br>I'm going to do the following: I'm going to get some 2 1/2 inch by 18 inch or longer leather belting, gorilla glue, and some birch plywood - I also make my own strops to my own specifications. If I have any surplus, I'll probably sell it on a competing web market site (rhymes with "etsy" or "me-too"). bay").
