Questions & Answers

Have you ever had a problem with it getting moldy if you left it on? (or removing it and allowing the mold to grow)?

Moldy. Moldy to the point of being disgusting. When I removed it, I discovered that about half of the interior had been infected with black mold. I cleaned it, but there are still a few spots that refuse to come off. NO MOLD, ON THE OTHER HAND, IS IN CONTACT WITH THE WATER OUTPUT. As a result, I did not experience a panic attack. I did toss it out, but only because my son is now 20 months old and I'm no longer concerned about him colliding with his head. br>The state of the bathroom: It had been on for 19 months and had not been removed. We live in Miami, where black mold can be found on just about anything (plants, roofs, walls, etc.). Finally, our air conditioner can never get the house cooler than 75 degrees in the 'winter,' and we're lucky if it can get it below 80 degrees in the summer. As a result, we've created ideal mold conditions. br>To summarize, if I needed it again, I would purchase it. However, if you have conditions that allow mold to grow, I would check it more frequently and clean it, as mold is difficult to completely eradicate once it has developed.

Is it safe for your child to touch the faucet's bottom? At the bottom, it appears to be open?

Yes. In order for the water to fill the bathtub, it must be open at the bottom. The whale, on the other hand, comes down about a half-inch to an inch below the faucet. The metal of the faucet is also protected by the extra coverage. It has kept us from falling off the cliff two times.

Would this work on a spout with a diverter that pulls down from the underside of the faucet?

Ours is attached to a pull-down diverter on a spout. It's fine; it's a little more difficult to pull the spout down because it's partially hidden, but it's fine!

Is this going to work with a curved spout? For a clawfoot tub, how about a vintage one?

It might "fit," but it won't stay on properly, in my opinion. It's adorable, but we also have an older spout that it rests on loosely. If your child wants to take it off or play with it, it's probably not a good idea. It works because my children are unconcerned about it.

Just do it, dads
5/5

As a father, I thought this was a really silly purchase made by my wife; it looks silly, seems unnecessary, and appears to be just another waste of money in the great emptying of your wallet due to silly baby purchases. But I installed it anyway, cringing as it stared up at my naked body on its first day in our house. br>br>That evening, I bathed my nine-month-old son. When he slipped and hit his head on the bath spout, he was splashing and experimenting with crawling and standing. Even a father's stomach turns when he hears this kind of head crack. He would have seriously injured himself if the Moby hadn't been installed. br>br>As a father and a frugal scrooge, I can attest that while the Moby may appear to be unnecessary spending, it is not. Def. get one. Simply take it off before taking a shower.

Spout cover that is very cute and long-lasting
5/5

My two daughters, ages 1 and 3, enjoy bathing, but the thought of them standing up and hitting their heads or something off the bath tub faucet always makes me nervous. So I looked for something to cover it and found a few, but they like aquatic stuff, so when the opportunity to review this came up, I jumped at it, and they absolutely adore this whale! Please keep in mind that while this is a one-size-fits-most item, it is not a one-size-fits-all item. For more information, see the cons. Advantages: br>br> br>Rubber is sturdy but gentle if a child bumps into itbr>Easy to hang up to store in the bathroom if you don't want it on the spigot 24/7br>3 year old can't easily take it off so no worries about it being removed by a childbr>It's BPA free so you can feel safe about using it plus I've put it in the dishwasher to clean (kids and soap equal messy whale sometimes) br>All right, let's get down to business. Second, this will not work on a spigot without a shower pull; it will fall off, so if you don't have one or have a separate knob, it is unlikely to work. br> It won't fit every spigot, but if it's under 8" in diameter, it should work. br>Finally. The strap does keep you in place, but it takes a great deal of effort to keep it that way. While it is effective in preventing children from pulling it off, it is also difficult for parents to remove. br>br>Recommendation: br>br> Yes - I bought it for my children for Easter. br>br>Please note that I did not receive a discount on this item. Useless
3/5

For your viewing pleasure, I have attached a video. As a plumber, I understand that standard spouts are nearly universal in size, and that the spout cover has straps that reopen and loosen themselves as soon as you tighten them. It can only stay in the tub for 30 seconds before it slides off the spout. To keep it in place, I literally had to squeeze it and wrap electric tape around the spout cover. It is in your best interests to refrain from purchasing this item.

This thing is adored by a million people
3/5

What is it about this thing that attracts over 2,000 people? Not only did it not fit on my faucet, but the strap that was used to adjust it was not secured in any way. As you try to adjust it to fit, the strap silides out from one side or the other, and you can't tighten it. We couldn't even BALANCE it on our faucet because it didn't fit properly and the strap was useless. It was also made of brittle plastic rather than the malleable silicone I expected. I'm not a fan, and I don't think it's worth your time.

It went on easily, and the spout still works perfectly! I'm much more confident that my child's head will be protected from bumps now that I have this. This is a product that I would recommend to everyone! br>br>Please let me know if my review was helpful!.

Internal measurements of the whale
4/5

I was disappointed to discover that the whale would not fit my spigot, so I decided to relay measurements (my spigot is 9-inch) since there were no reviews with measurement reports. 1/4" circumference is far too large): br>The internal-external-external-external-external- The whale has a clearance measurement of 5" (measured from the strap slots). br>The strap (directly inside the whale) is about 2-inches long. 3/4". br>I don't think a spigot with a diameter of more than 7 inches can be trusted. This whale will fit in a 3/4" (total circumference) hole. br>I hope this information is useful in preventing others from making the same mistake as me!.

It didn't fit right and kept falling off. "Mom, it's broken," even my two-year-old said.

It's easy to remove
3/5

There's no point. It simply peels away. It's easy for a child to take it off and play with it. It's impossible to tighten the strap enough to keep it in place.
