Questions & Answers

Are these the tires I need if I have 20x10x8 Turf Master Tires rather than Turf Saver Tires?

They will function, but the chains will need to be adjusted. Turf Saver tires are the ones I'm using. My mower repair shop installed them, and they required size adjustments to fit snugly on the tire. They do an excellent job!

Is there a second one? Do I get two?

Each package comes with two TerraGrips.

Please give your opinion on the item's durability. If I use them full-time while mowing, I'd like to know how long they'll last. ?

I installed them before the first snowfall of the season, and they still look brand new after twenty uses. With ice on my driveway, I've been pounding on them pretty hard, spinning the tires and digging in. It appears that the product will last a long time.

Will the 22x9 be a success? 12 will fit a 22x9 tire. What's ten dollars for a John Deere Z425?

If you're looking for tire chain grips, you can shorten the chain by removing some side links at the end to accommodate smaller tire diameters! (2")br>Straps will fit across the tire due to the same width!

" " STOP! Put these in your shopping cart, take out your wallet, and buy them!" br>br>I live on a pitiful piece of rock and sandy-like dirt known as chirt around here; I'm not sure how enough grass grows on it to mow it, but it does. I've gone through a lot of lawnmowers, and this hillside is a lawnmower killer; if any lawnmower companies want to test, I've got a spot for you. Mowers with heavy lug tires have failed me in the past. I've used mowers that had tire chains on them. Chains were more effective than lugged tires, but they would eventually spin out and attempt to dig a hole to the other side of the planet. Chains on the blacktop driveway, up our dreadful driveway, wondered if I'd ever make it. It's around 30 degrees in our backyard right now. Take a 20-minute walk up the back lawn. You can see over the roof from a distance of 25 feet. The situation in the front yard isn't much better. There is a flat spot, maybe 10 degrees, but it is flat for us. We have a field, rocks, a steeper hillside, more rocks, and chirt, and I've often wondered why I bought this place in the first place. br>br>TerraGrips is a brand of br>br>TerraGrips is a brand of br Please take me anywhere on our property that I want to go. I've gotten myself into a bind. The mower deck becomes stuck, which raises the tractor and causes it to become stuck. That is all I have to say on the subject. If you have a hydrostatic drive and can control your forward or backward speed, you can slow down and it will grab. When I have to go uphill, the tractor will keep climbing until it can no longer. What I mean is that the tractor has insufficient power to pull itself up the hill and cannot spin its wheels! I've told friends that before I wear out the TerraGrips on this mower, I'm going to kill the transmission. Installation br>br>Installation br>Installation br>Installation br>Installation It only took me 15 minutes to complete. I raised the back of the mower and set it to free wheel (or neutral if yours is a manual) so the wheels could spin. Attach the chains, adjust the length, and clip them in place. My tires were also deflated to about 1 pound. This was done in the hopes of improving traction prior to applying the TerraGrips. Return to 10 psi after the TerraGrips, as directed. br>br>I've done about 4-hours of mowing with these. 5 times. That, you might argue, isn't a lot. You would change your mind if you saw my yard and the conditions in which I put these items. Since they've been on, I've done nothing to them. Since they've been on, nothing has happened to them. They've climbed over a cliff, and they've made it to the I've ridden 40-plus miles on three-inch branches. 50 feet down a hillside, with the brakes on and the tires rolling backwards, sliding/drifting the back of the mower The TerraGrips sink their teeth into the mower and don't let go until it's under control. I'd put these on a different riding mower if I had one. If you have small rolling hills and your turf savers (also known as no traction tires) are spinning on wet grass blades, these are the tires for you. The TerraGrips do not rip up grass or destroy the lawn in the only flat area of grass we have around the house. I haven't noticed any damage to the grass around turns or at high speeds. But, since I'm not the type to have a perfectly green lawn, I may not be looking as hard as others. br>br>TerraGrips are, without a doubt, the best "tire chains" available. I have no ties to TerraGrip; I don't have a relative who works there, and I'm not friends with anyone who works there. These are the best things, in my honest opinion.

DO NOT THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY! These fall short of all expectations. Installed these per manufacturer's instructions, worked for about 10 minutes, then began to slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, slip, These are worthless if you keep tightening them over and over. TOTALLY WORTHLESS, just keep slipping, sliding, and twisting in all directions around the tire. If you get stuck, don't worry about it! It's a complete disaster once the individual grippers begin to slip and twist. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! br>br>DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!.

It worked perfectly! I was looking forward to seeing the TerraGrips grips for my JD L130 (TerraGrips Tire Chains 22x9)

a dozen 20x10 Turf Saver (number 8) I've been using chains for a long time, and you have to be careful when walking on stone patios, sidewalks, and driveways, or you'll get some serious scratches. Minor ones, on the other hand, usually vanish on their own. Initial ideas. br>br> When I took them out of the box, they appeared to be using old tires, but they appeared to be brand new. I'm not sure if they were defective tires that were being reused. I have no idea. The construction appears to be of good quality. The only pointless component is the pull tie for securing extra chain, which I didn't have to use. Instead, I'd use something like this, as I did with my steel chains. I had to watch the video on the website to put them on at first; the instructions were mostly clear, and the video was helpful. The chains appeared to be about 5 inches too short at first glance, but they fit perfectly if you follow the video instructions. br>br>In Virginia, we recently received 30 inches of snow, and they performed admirably. If you use a tractor plow, you must plow on a regular basis, or the snow will become too deep to manage. Steel chains have the advantage of not slipping when pushing a heavy load or pushing up into your snow pile. This aids in the removal of lower-level hard layers, but it can scratch surfaces. When the load is too heavy to push, the Terragrips grip the ground so well that your wheel simply stops when it's had enough (it may spin, but not as fast as steel chains). Overall, this is a plus, but when working in deeper areas with lower layers, steel chain spin can be beneficial. br>br>Overall, I'm not going to use steel chains any longer.

It was exactly what I was looking for

I'll admit that I was skeptical at first, but these rubber chains have proven to be very effective this winter. My driveway is asphalt and is fairly flat. I didn't want to use regular chains because they might scratch the driveway, so I decided to give these a try. With my Cub Cadet lawn tractor, I use them to plough snow. Despite the fact that this winter was relatively mild, I live in the lake belt, where we can get a lot of snow at once. I've plowed up to 6" at a time, depending on the amount of water in the snow. There should be no problems if the snow is very powdery. If the snow is "wet," I've had traction issues. However, I was always successful in plowing. One thing to keep in mind is that angling the plow rather than having the blade straight makes it easier to push a lot of snow. Smaller swipes can also be beneficial. In terms of installation, I inflated my tires before rolling the tractor onto the chains. According to the included instructions, the installation was fairly simple. br>br>In conclusion, they performed well enough to meet my needs, despite not being perfect for traction in some cases.
