Questions & Answers
My Husqvarana lawn tractor has 20 X 8 tires, so the tire chain tighteners work fine.
They won't fit because they're too big.
I'd say no because the springs on that large of a tire are too far stretched, and you could easily make your own with a trip to the hardware store.
No way, the springs on my 24" tires are far too tight. It's a well-made piece.

The chain was easily snapped in place, but there should have been more springs to catch the chain in more places. I bought four more springs to put in between the four on each side, which raised the garden tractor chains evenly (a total of eight springs on each side). It's likely that six would have sufficed. (That is, each tightener will have two springs added to it). br>The tighteners were excellent and well-made; however, there were insufficient springs in my opinion, or I would have given them five stars. Once the tips were modified slightly so they could snap on to the central ring, the 175 spring in their assortment at the hardware store was perfect for this.
I had to use cable ties to finish the job. I ordered a set after reading the reviews for the OPD ones. What a difference there is. Installing it is not difficult. I was so pleased with them that I purchased two more sets for my other two tractors. This book comes highly recommended.
The good; Springy, with good plating on all of the hardware, strong, and a nice size. More durable than bungee straps. br>Contrary to popular belief, there is a negative aspect to this situation. For ATV sized wheels, four springs are spaced too far apart. The chains are not kept tight all the way around. It would be much better if there were at least six springs available. To keep the chains in place, I had to use some heavy nylon wire ties.
So far, everything has gone well. As the rubber tensioners were cracking and breaking, I replaced them with these.
To tighten tire chains on a John Deere X570, use this tool. I've had these for almost two years and they're still going strong. years. They're few and far between, but they're holding up admirably and showing no signs of metal fatigue.
These are great for slightly oversized chains because they provide nice tension. The only difference I notice is that they are slightly larger than the size stated.
They're great, but put them on with pliers or your skin will get pinched in the springs if it slips out of your hand. I wish I'd gotten the rubber ones instead.
Years ago, I should have purchased these. On my X304, chains and, in my case, Terragrips, would sag off the center of the tires. The chains are held in place by these!.
