NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER, TerraGrips Tire Chains are designed to handle anything Mother Nature throws at you. These chains have been thoroughly tested and shown to be capable of handling a variety of terrains, including snow, mud, mulch, gravel, grass, asphalt, and more. TerraGrips will do anything, anywhere, so you can drive off the road with peace of mind.
LANDSCAPE PROTECTION: TerraGrips are made of multi-ply rubber slats rather than traditional steel tire chains. The rubber base provides superior grip while leaving no permanent scratches or marks on asphalt and will not damage wet or frozen lawns.
NEXT LEVEL TRACTION: TerraGrips Tire Chains will improve the ability of your machinery to plow, snow blow, mow, and till with ease. Our top-of-the-line traction prevents slippage, so you won't get stuck on a steep incline or in a muddy, wet area. Rubber slats are extremely durable and keep steel chains from causing additional tire wear.
EASY INSTALLATION: Installation on your tires is simple and requires no tools. Rubber slats keep the mattress in place. TerraGrips are available in a variety of sizes to improve the traction of a variety of tires and are made of plated steel components to reduce maintenance time.
Superior Tech's products are proudly made in the United States. PATRIOTIC AND RESPONSIBLE: Superior Tech's products are proudly made in the United States. TerraGrips Tire Chains are made from recycled rubber, which is good for the environment. Damaged tires are frequently dumped in landfills, taking up valuable space, posing a fire risk, and potentially releasing harmful chemicals like methane gas, which can contaminate ground water and local land sources.

Questions & Answers

18x9 is the size of my tire. Will 5x8 fit my needs or will it be too large? I can't seem to track down the size of my terragrip. ?

The 20 x 8 is a rectangle that measures 20 inches by eight inches. Your tire is a size 8, but it will also fit an 18 x 9 inch wheel. 5 - Your tire is mounted on an 8" rim (as opposed to a 6" rim). The 18 x 9 specifies a 12" rim. 5 - Your tire sidewalls will have a little more "bulge" than tires with the 12" rim, but the effect on fit should be minimal.

Will these fit a four-wheel-drive tractor's front tires?

I purchased both the front and rear of the vehicle. This year, however, there wasn't enough snow to put them to the test. However, if you purchase the correct size for your tires, they will fit.

Is there one for each rear tire?

The chains are sold in sets of two. It is required that both sides be installed. If you don't put them both in, one wheel will have traction and won't slip, while the other will spin while the other holds. Make sure you order the correct size for your tires; mine were a pain to put on. They clung to the tires with a squeaky fit. They worked well on hard surfaces but not so well on grass (in comparison to regular steel chains). I purchased them in order to avoid scratching the concrete driveway and sidewalk.

Is it for a single tire or a set of two?

I'm serious
3/5

I have proof in the form of photographs. The only thing I like about it is that I can return it without having to pay for shipping. Aside from that, it's a complete waste of time. One rivet was only half pressed, leaving half of the rivet sticking out towards the tire (see photo), which would have punctured my tire if I hadn't noticed. Looking closer at the other rivets, it appears that many of them will fail much sooner than if they were installed properly. The rivets appear to be a smaller size than they should have been, which is a bad practice used by some manufacturers to speed up the process while sacrificing quality. The rubber used is leftovers from previous projects. From one strip to the next, the tread that makes contact with the tire varies, with some having more traction than others. I should also point out that on a couple of occasions, the rubber was not cut straight. Last but not least, because the rubber is scrap (crap) from another company, the side that makes contact with the ground is not completely black. You might be wondering why. Because there are several layers of rubber missing on some of the strips (as shown in the photo). Most likely as a result of the other factory's rejection of the material. The fact that the tread is missing, the textures are mismatched, and the rubber is miscut is irrelevant because the rivets are junk! My current set of old tires will be the only rubber I'll be recycling, and I'll be switching to tractor tread tires! I promptly returned the item, and I hope that this information is useful to someone else.

In the snow, it's completely useless! Keep your chains simple
3/5

Very dissatisfied and a colossal financial waste. I was looking forward to getting these because I was hoping for a smoother, better snow-gripping tire chain for my JD GT245 with snowthrower. I've gone through several sets of regular tire chains, and they're bumpy and fall off now and then. When you're trying to clear snow, this is extremely frustrating. The GOOD: br>br> They were a perfect fit and a lot easier to put on than chains. The ride was smoother than chains (for the 15 feet I got before getting stuck). br>br>The CON: When the snow is anything other than dry powder, they don't work at all on an incline and barely work on a paved flat. Any wet or moderately sticky snow will cause them to spin and leave you stuck. br>br>With the first snowfall of the year, I was looking forward to finally installing them and trying them out in the hopes of having a better experience. Instead, I was given a 3 that was extremely inconvenient. After 5 hours of attempting to free the tractor and return it to the garage, I had to dig up some old broken tire chains and rig them up temporarily. With the standard tire chains, traction was excellent. Now I'm off to the store in the middle of a snowstorm to get some chain parts so I can reassemble the old ones. br>br>Might work well with dirt or sand, but not with snow.

It was a significant investment, but it was well worth it! They're a little difficult to put on and keep straight and tight, but they're worth it
5/5

We just finished a nine-day stretch with eight snow days, so I had to move the show banks back to make room for the extra. The additional grip was provided by these "chains. "
Hint: br>Jack up the tractor and drastically reduce the tire pressure. After that, put on the chains and straighten them out, as well as air up the tires.

Compared to traditional 2 Link Tractor Tire Chains, Terragrips Tire "Chains" are more durable
5/5

For the sake of comparison, let's assume that properly installed, fully functional "traditional tire chains" provide the highest level of traction on various surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc. ) of any user-installed traction supplemental device, which I'll call a "10" for comparison purposes to the Terra Grips. For starters, I've been using "traditional tire chains" on various compact tractors for over three decades. I've been using a John Deere 455 Diesel tractor with a 22 horsepower rating for the past 17 years. My first set of John Deere chains lasted for more than a decade. My subsequent set lasted approximately three seasons. Since then, I've plowed the same surfaces and quantities of roads and driveways with at least one set of chains every season. br>br>Clearly, tire chain quality has deteriorated as prices have dropped, as my most expensive set of chains was the original set, which lasted a decade. Regular "tire chains" were the ones I just threw away because they were the cheapest (lowest initial purchase price, highest level of frustration during ownership). This, I believe, has something to do with the fact that many previously high-quality products are now manufactured in China. A "Made in China" label, in my opinion, should be considered a PRODUCT WARNING LABEL. The Terra Grips are designed and manufactured in the United States, which is always a plus. br>br>With traditional tire chains, the failure was always in the tire tread cross chains. Individual chain links would be prone to failure. Some of them broke, while others were quickly worn out. In any case, "traditional tire chains" are no longer of the same high quality as they once were. When cross chains fail, they flail around under the fender, crashing into the tractor fender and axle housing, as well as threatening to damage various hydraulic lines, electrical harnesses, and other components. Initially, I attempted to repair them with special "repair links," which proved to be a complete waste of time. I was soon stopped plowing and lying on the ground, either cutting the broken chains off the tire chains or tying them off with zip ties, to avert further damage. Regardless, if "Traditional Tire Chains" are the "traction standard" for user-installed traction assistance, I thought the Terra Grips were an intriguing concept, but I had serious doubts about their traction capabilities. After using the Terra Grip Traction Strips for over 30 hours of plowing and snow blowing in just two weeks since their installation, here's how I'd rate them: br>br>Concrete Surfaces - Concrete Surfaces - Concrete Surfaces - Concrete Surfaces - Concrete Surfaces - Concrete Surfaces - Terra Grips have excellent traction, scoring an 8 or even a 9 out of ten. Asphalt Surfaces - br>br>Asphalt Surfaces - br>Asphalt Surfaces - br>Asphalt Surface Terra Grips offer a traction rating of 7 to 8, assuming a level of 10 is excellent. br>br>Frozen Ground (lawns, driveways, and gravel surfaces) - br>br>Sheer Ice (the kind you can barely stand on and can't walk on without falling) - Terra Grips provide a 7 to 8 for traction while also not destroying the frozen lawn, etc. br>br>Sheer Ice (the kind you can barely stand on and can't walk on without falling) - Terra Grips provide a 7 to 8 for traction while also not destroying the frozen lawn, etc. In comparison to the traditional chains' superior performance of a level 10, Terra Grips add minimal traction, perhaps a 2 or 3 level of assistance. br>br>The good news is that "Sheer Ice" conditions on a large scale are extremely rare for my purposes. My experience was in a culdesac that had flooded during a brief period of thawing and then froze to sheer ice, which could have been skated on with ice skates if they had been available. The Terra Grips were better than nothing in that situation, but only by a small margin. br>br> Now that same area has hard packed snow mixed in, the Terra Grips provide excellent traction when given the chance to "grip something," such as the hard packed snow. On solid sheer ice, however, nothing works as well as "traditional chains," as the chains score the surface to bite into the ice and gain traction. While this is fine on solid ice, the same chewing into the surface on a traditional road or driveway surface is a big no-no and can be very damaging. br>br>Installing the Terra Grips was a breeze. It took less than 10 minutes to put a set on the back tires. They do not twist and flex like traditional chains do while traveling at tractor road speeds once installed. The Terra grips have exceeded my expectations in every way. I'll admit that I was skeptical at first, and I was on the verge of ordering a second set of "traditional tire chains" as a backup in case these didn't work out. I no longer see a need for traditional chains and the headaches that come with them. br>br>I would advise the manufacturer to rename them Terra Grip Traction Strips or something else other than the traditional "chains" they use in their name and description. To be honest, I think these are a better product than traditional chains in many ways, including ease of installation, ability to drive without damaging the surface, quietness, and lack of "chain rattles. " The fact that these are referred to as chains detracts from one of the product's best features, which is the removal of the chain from the tread and road surface. br>br>These Terra Grips have shown no signs of wear or weakness after two weeks of heavy use totaling more than 30 hours. They are a capable replacement for "traditional chains," and despite my expectations that they would not meet my high standards, I am not disappointed in the least. My days of dealing with cross chain failures appear to be numbered. br>br>Based on my extensive personal use of these Terra Grip Traction Strips, I would not hesitate to purchase them again, and I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a tire chain alternative.
