To get the most out of my new toolbox, I had to redesign my organizational system. My goal was to be able to pull an entire set of sockets from the main box and toss them on a service cart for transport to the jobsite. We are in the 21st century, so it wouldn't do to use crappy old metal rails with spring clips. Likewise, Hansen style trays are great for putting books in a box and leaving them there. However, they're a bit flimsy and will easily break if they are moved around often. It's pretty good to have twist-lock rails provided by Ernst, but the size markings tend to be small and can be obscured. It appears that Westling are designed for users of Snap On because having expensive tools is more important than getting a good deal. They look good, but they really seem to be targeted toward Snap On buyers. These trays fit my needs and preferences perfectly. I especially appreciate how the magnet located at the bottom of the tray secures the sockets as well as the tray to metal. Considering that it feels like a solid chunk of plastic, it will likely last a long time. There is a good deal of clarity in the markings. In addition, they hold what can generally be considered a full line of sizes, such as the 1/4" and With a 3/8" well, you have the choice of standard or deep. In the 1/2" tray, you can only print one run, which is a bit of a drawback for totally understand that this is done to reduce the size of the tray, but I would like to see them offer a 1/2" tray with holes for all of the regular and special sauces. I think those of us in the room should take a look at this. Some sockets won't fit into the holes but mine do, and I have read some reports saying some sockets won't fit into the holes, but my Craftsman and Black & Decker do I have determined that all Pittsburgh sockets fit fine, there is just a little bit of play so they can be quickly inserted, but not so much as to cause them to become loose. I would highly recommend this book.
The trays replaced the plastic Hansen trays I used to have. Those holders are ideal for craftingman sockets and they will also fit impact sockets. They are made of very good quality plastic. Several other sockets such as blue point simply will not fit in these. The 3/8" trays come in at 3 1/2 inches wide, so I really wish they made them a little smaller. As for any US General rolling cart of 30" capacity, you can only fit 3/8" set, 1/4" set, and 1 of the 1/2" set, so the 1/2" set does not work for both deeps and shallows, but the 3/8" and 1/8" sets do. As an alternative to having deeps from 10mm to 20mm and shallows from 20mm to 10mm, the 1/2" holders start with 10mm and go down to the first attenuation then back up to 27mm. Also, the 1/4" settings do not go to 15mm and I am on a 15mm set, I mean who designed that As well as wasting a lot of realestate, one could have easily been converted into two. It is possible that the width will be less than 75". One last thing I would suggest is you shouldn't use mid-length sockets since they are harder to remove. You guys might find this helpful in making your decision to buy or not buy.
To this day, I am still in love with these. Having sprayed some WD40 on my sockets to prevent rust from forming, I was surprised to find that the lettering had worn off when I put the organizer back on. Having spent a lot of money on this set, I am dismayed at how easily these can be destroyed by chemicals commonly found in garages.
After looking for the right socket organizer, I ordered one metric and one standard for my shallow 1/2 six-point sockets. This is good enough for me. It is easy to read the socket size due to its brightness. I found that my sockets fit perfectly and did not feel My deep well sockets were so pleased that I bought a second sae one for them. I would also find those to be just the right size for my box. I feel secure with the magnet holding the socket in without having to fight it to take.
There is no problem with the sockets falling out if the container is turned upside down because the magnet holds them in place. However, it is not so strong that it is hard to take You will have to spend a lot of money getting enough of them to carry all your sockets, if you have a large tool set The 8 total metric and SAE drive kits are $23, with one for the 3/4 drive serial and metric, one for the 1/2 drive serial and metric, and one for the 3/8 drive serial and metric. The cost per piece is 49 cents Taxes are included, so the total is $188. I'm so sorry!.
The Lisle socket tray has been in use for 15 years, but they have been falling apart for the last couple of years. The main fault of these magnetic trays is that every time they are bumped, the sockets fall out, but these trays are of a high quality and made from that waxy plastic, which is very durable and lasts for My first impression of the magnetic grip was that it would not be strong enough. However, it seems to be most adequate. These have kept my sockets all together when I've rammed them hard or dropped them from low levels. I've been looking for them for years, northern tool, napa, sears, box stores and online. It took a month to order them after I saw My opinion is that they are excellent. A set of these for half an inch drive is on its way to me today. I think they are worth the purchase.
As an expert at home do-it-yourself, I don't mind the magnets. In the drawer, the holders stay in place, and the sockets are also in place. This product is well made, the sockets are not difficult to remove, and the labels are clear. I have only one problem my 1/4" drive, 5/8" Bluepoint socket does not go Yet I only bought it for the purpose of filling up my Olsa Tools are a great brand and I am a big fan of their.
