YES. I'm using it for both purposes.
It doesn't adhere to metal as well as it should, and I dislike it.
Yes, they are able to maintain their position. I'm not sure how they managed to keep on with any motion when they were upside down, but why would you want to have them that way in the first place?

This awesome socket holder, which I have mounted on the side of one of my chests, securely holds the sockets and the box. When I ordered these, the advertisement stated that they would hold shallow and deep for 1/4" 3/8" 1/2", but it turns out that both 1/4" and 3/8" can hold both shallow and deep. The 1/2", on the other hand, is only shallow. It's still a nice rack, but my sockets are now separated from one another, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid.
It's fantastic for keeping track of things. When attached to the side of the cabinet, it works well for keeping the sockets in place. br>br>When attached to the tool chest, it doesn't work so well for keeping the sockets in place. It's possible, but they can easily fall out if brushed against or if the tool chest hits a bump as it moves across the floor. I'm sure it has something to do with relative surface area, but the magnetic attraction on the side that attaches to your tool chest isn't nearly as strong at keeping the magnets in. The sockets take up a much smaller space than the organizer's entire backside. It's best if they stay horizontal. Vertical is only a good idea if your tool chest is in a secure location that won't move or be bumped. br>br>The reason for three stars is that the sockets should have a much firmer connection to the base, especially for the price and the marketing towards storing on the side of the tool chest. In a professional setting, I shouldn't have to look after them.
The end result is fantastic. Sockets are simple to remove and replace, and the toolbox is no longer cluttered. The block is made of a solid, high-strength material. The dockets are held in place by a magnet in the base, which also prevents the block from moving. You can also take the entire block out of your toolboxes and store it close to your work. They appeal to me, and I intend to implement the metrics as well!.
I've already written a review for the metric set, so I'll keep this one brief. br>br>I really like how organized this is. It's been a long time coming, and I have no regrets about making this purchase. br>br>However, there is some dissatisfaction. br>br>The base has a strong magnetic connection to the tool chest, but the sockets have a weak magnetic connection. If you store them on the side of the cabinet, they'll fall out if you brush up against them or bump the cabinet. br>br>It's surprising and disappointing enough for me to give it only three stars.
All of the other holes on the product were perfect and functioned flawlessly. However, any socket we found would not fit in the 1/2 hole. Maybe it was just luck of the draw, but the hole won't fit any 1/2 socket from various brands.
The magnetic backings have a strong grip on metal surfaces, but they can be removed with a tug. The sockets are labeled (by millimeter) and come in three pieces to cover everything from 4 to 8. 5–20 mm, with some repetition (e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e 13 mm). Because I've collected several sets over the years, this is extremely useful. There's no need to rummage through a tool bag full of strewn-together sockets. br>br>What I like best about this organizer over others is that it fits any type of socket, 1/4" or 1/2", with ease. I returned two other organizers because they were not as adaptable.
Over the years, I've experimented with a few different ways to organize sockets. I've always kept my toolbox neat and tidy. By far the best thing I've ever found for that purpose is this set of magnetic trays. If you need to organize your sockets, this is a must-have item that is well-made, sturdy, simple, and effective. I've only completed 6 of the points on the S scale. So far, I've done sockets, and I intend to move on to Metric. After that, 12 point S. and Metric is on the way.
As a mechanic, it took a long time to find a socket organizer that was both functional and durable. This is the set I'll be using for a long time, and it's also simple to clean after a while.
