Before ordering an oil pan for your vehicle, make sure you have this information. You'll save hundreds of dollars in labor and parts if you do it yourself. br>Make certain you're qualified to work with machines of this type. Although there are some good videos on YouTube, it is preferable to have an experienced person install this thread insert kit. When properly installed, it will outperform the factory part.
This is what I used for my oil pan plug on my 2014 Silverado. This kit presented no problems for me. Having to do everything from my truck presented its own set of difficulties. I'll use one of these kits again if I ever need to rethread my plug.
Alternatively, if you opt for Heli- These are the coils you'll be using to fix the Heli- Coil, especially if it's something that's dismantled frequently.
" It turns out that you may or may not require longer Time-Serts than the ones included in this kit, even if the "M12x1" is used. Your vehicle requires a 75" set of boring and threading tools. I didn't notice until after I installed (w loctite red) because I'm a stupid noob. Attempting to extract the timesert failed and mangled the Time-Sert's inner threads, so I'll have to drill it out. On the other hand, Even in a cramped space with poor lighting and a tap wrench made from two nuts on a long bolt, installation was not too difficult.
These oil pan repair kits are fantastic. I'm a machinist, and I'm blown away.
The only issue I encountered was that I needed to purchase a splined socket because a twelve point would not work with the tap provided.
