On an aluminum-headed LS1, spark plug 1, I used this tool to repair damaged spark plug threads. Even with limited access and the engine still in the car, the tool performed flawlessly. The method for holding the replacement fitting in place is what I like best about this kit. from the threads' very bottom. Other, less expensive kits necessitate top-level access to spread the fittings and hammer the seal.
It works fine; however, it is a difficult job, and you must be extremely vigilant to avoid any issues. br>The problem is that you use it once and then that's it; you've invested money in a tool that you'll only use once every few years, if at all, and it won't sell that easily, believe me, I've tried. br>br>The build quality is excellent, and the tolerances are very tight; the job was well done, and my spark plugs are now completely sealed. br>br>Just in case, I bought the oil and loctite they recommended for the job. br>Add some dielectric grease to the threads of the plugs to prevent them from locking in place and preventing them from being removed later. The box is not of the highest quality. br>br>.
I was hesitant to use the kit, but after reading the comments, I decided to watch a YouTube video on how to use wheel bearing grease. It's almost too simple to thread tap and create new threads with this tool. I was a little concerned because it was so simple. So far, the loctite permanent adhesive has performed admirably. When the spark plug was installed, it was torqued to the specified torque.
This was purchased to replace a blown spark plug in my Crown Victoria from 2001. I had the car inspected by a mechanic, who informed me that repairing it would cost more than the vehicle was worth. I bought this product on the spur of the moment and wrote a few "how-to" articles about it. to" videos on a popular free video site that went into great detail about the process of re-designing your home. a spark plug hole that is threaded I was able to re-assemble my car with the help of this product and a few other basic tools (3/8" socket wrench, a few spark plug sockets, and some extensions). I was able to thread the hole to fit a new spark plug with a threaded insert in less than an hour, and my car was back on the road in no time. I later sold the tool on an auction website for nearly what I paid for it, bringing my total cost for the repair to around $15. I'd also like to point out that this was my first time working on a car in any capacity. It would have been impossible to fix without this tool, so if you have a blown spark plug, BUY THIS TOOL. You'll be glad you took the time to do so.
Everything went smoothly, and the end result was fantastic!.
These kits are preferable to those that include the swager tool because there is often insufficient hammering space. The insert is expanded against the head with the tool included in this kit. it's been locked up.
