The spark plug can be removed without the insert because it is permanently installed in the hole.
I don't see why the insert wouldn't be a long-term solution if the repair is done correctly. This version is more powerful than the first. I fixed my Mazda tribute a little over two years ago and have had no problems since then.
Steel is used for the insert.
If the failed insert has an OD of, take a measurement. Use the 5553 kit if your dimensions are less than 660 inches. IF the field insert size is greater than. The Time-Sert p/n 5600 triple oversized kit is used by the 660.

I researched the various options for repairing a spark plug hole for several hours and days. br>I do have some experience with auto repairs. I've repaired spark plug holes on a variety of engines using different techniques. Nothing comes close to this kit. br>br> The design, engineering, manufacturing, and even packaging have all been meticulously considered. If you don't want to "hope for the best," don't buy the rest. (I didn't mean it to rhyme. ) No, I'm not an employee of the firm. br>I purchased a Ford v10 from a dealer in 2002. The following day, one of the spark plugs blew out. Isn't it crazy? br>There are several steps to this procedure. Stick to the laminated, well-printed instructions! Yes, the instructions were laminated so that they wouldn't be ruined if you grabbed them with greasy hands. Simply wipe it clean and reassemble the case! They also give a lot of locktite and oil as well. br>The most important thing to keep in mind is to make sure the tools go as far as they possibly can. Check it three times. Check to see if any of the engine's valves are open. Clean the cylinder thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly, thoroughly After that, clean it once more. Otherwise, your engine will be destroyed. br>It is a simple repair if the instructions are followed. If necessary, take the extra time to relocate hoses, wires, and brackets. The extra few minutes were well worth it.
That's not true. It's all over now. This is it. A 2002 Ford 4 was purchased and successfully repaired with this kit. The 7 spark plugs and coils in the head of a 6L gasoline engine were blown clean out. br>After doing some research, I discovered that this was the ONLY way to fix stripped plug threads correctly. Other options included removing the head and/or machining work in a machine shop. The work was completed "over the fender" in about 2 hours with the head in place, so it was not necessary to remove the head. I have a lot of experience working under the hood as a "shade tree" mechanic, so I took my time with this. Even someone with little experience could easily complete it in a fraction of the time. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE REPAIR. It appears that the set is foolproof. proof; When the tools reach the desired depth, they come to a halt. The reamers (first two steps) took the most time because I did them by hand; you could use an air ratchet to speed these up, but I preferred to feel by hand. The kit comes with almost everything you need for the repair, though I would recommend picking up some good grease or WD40 to help capture and bind the metal shavings. Remove the tool head after a few turns, clean it, and reinstall it. smear on some grease, and then cut some more. A shop vac and some plastic/rubber tubing (I used aquarium tank tubing attached to a shop vac adapter) are also useful. ) Because the fuel rail was in the way for some steps, simply insert the cutting end, then the 'wrench,' then the ratchet with extension. That gave us just enough room to get everything in and in the right place. The directions are precise and straightforward. The instruction sheet is even laminated, allowing you to keep it handy while working without fear of it being destroyed. I'd also like to point out that the tools themselves are extremely well constructed; they're both sturdy and precise. br>br>Time-Sert is the best option. Although this is a pricey set, I have no regrets. It was well worth the money.

I did a lot of research and this is the only kit specifically designed for Ford F150 spark plugs. Before you buy this kit, make sure the spark plug hole you're fixing isn't so badly blown out that it won't be fixed by this kit. The only way to be sure is to look down the spark plug hole with an inspection camera to make sure it's only stripped and not blown out. I did see someone use their camera phone to take a picture of the hole, and it worked. One thing to keep in mind when using this kit is that the valves on the cylinder you're using it on must be closed, or the valves will be damaged. It's clear why this is so important if you watch the YouTube video of the guy using this kit on a head he has on his bench. In the video, he expresses his displeasure with it. You should probably not buy this kit if you don't know how to find top dead center on the compression stroke for the cylinder you're repairing in the vehicle. br>br>When remanufacturing Ford F150 heads for stripped out spark plug holes, they use this kit.
I blew a spark plug out of my 2000 model F-150, which has a 4 2 valve modular engine. With the 5, you get 250 points. This kit came with a 4L 2 valve engine that I purchased. Yes, it worked well and appeared to have been engineered/built with care. My one plug hole was quickly repaired, and I now have four more inserts to repair four more holes. br>br>If I were a professional spark plug thread repairer, I would definitely invest $450 in the TimeSert kit. However, if I had to do it all over again, I would most likely go with the Cal- For around $250 delivered, you can get a van tool.
Because the spark plug hole is recessed into the head, you can't just put your thumb over the hole and have someone turn the engine until you feel the compression stroke, so you'll need a way to figure it out and order it online. Because the spark plug hole is recessed into the head, you can't just put your thumb over the hole and have someone turn the engine until you feel the compression stroke, so you'll need a way to figure it out and order it online. br>br>There is a company that sells both, so make sure you get the Calvan CV 389-. The 4000 Leak Tester is a tool for determining whether or not valves are closed.
This saved my life. I did a lot of research before deciding which brand to buy, and this one came out on top. It was simple to complete and the instructions were easy to understand. In addition, the driver tool fit perfectly into the spark plug hole, ensuring that no mistakes were made. If you grease the flutes well enough, you shouldn't have any shavings in the cylinder. And, if both valves are closed, remove your belt, insert a coil boot into the plug hole (no need for the spark plug), and turn the motor until the coil is forced out. The sound of air escaping will be audible. It's simple to do; just take your time and don't rush. You'll either have to buy a new block, or you'll have to buy a new one.
