I would recommend this tool because it is well made and does the job. Having gotten it for a 2006 Silverado, I intend to take off the steering wheel. You can tighten the screw a little and then tap it with a brass hammer a few times to ensure that it is in good shape. A straight pull usually pops the wheel off with a lot less force than just pulling it.
We removed the steering wheel from an 08 Wrangler jk, and then removed the clockspring, employing the otc 6668 pulley kit. If you have a ratchet, then you can tighten it after you have set it up with 2 hands. The price is a little high as well.

A hammer tap on the center tightening screw's head is what is referred to as the "little shock. ".
I bought this item to complete the set of pullers I have. After receiving the item, I had to use them for a truck 2 days later. If you are working on a vehicle, it is always nice to have the factory recommended tools.
