Questions & Answers

What is the best way to get the packaging insert out of the socket?

I didn't have a package and bought the regular length socket rather than the shallow one. Problems.

Is it possible to ship two sockets in a single package to New Zealand to save on freight?

You could do it yourself, but they won't because they want to charge you for each item separately.

It's a good socket, but it's not particularly enjoyable

This one isn't skilled in the arts of magic. My most recent one vanished while being held captive in a case. It was truly remarkable. Bolts are loosening and tightening with this one. 0/10 magicianbr>10/10 socketbr>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br.

This was a complete failure
3/5

I received this socket with a significant flaw in the forging. The ratchet's fit in the socket was affected as a result of this. SB was the first person I called. D has been notified of the problem, and a replacement socket has been sent. Although the replacement was properly forged, the chrome plating began to flake off after only a few uses. Instead of calling for service, I simply sanded and ground the peeling down/off, and now I have a fine socket. br>br>I have a lot of sympathy for SB's position. When the replacement started to flake, many of my sockets already had deep scratches and grooves, so it wasn't a big deal. The socket is a perfect fit for my ratchet and fastener. br>br>SB br>br>SB br>br>SB b This is something D should take care of. They took over a disaster from Sears and were extremely helpful while avoiding any blame. The prices appear to be lower than at Sears, so purchasing from SB makes sense. D works for me as long as the lifetime warranty is maintained. Perhaps they will begin to use DeWALT's manufacturing facilities.

There are numerous photos comparing this socket to an early 1990s "G" Craftsman socket made in the United States
5/5

One of my Craftsman sockets, which I bought in 1993, was damaged, much to my dismay. Craftsman tools have served me well, but in recent years I've discovered other brands such as Williams, Wright, SK, and Proto, which are not only less expensive but also of higher quality and made in the United States. I've also seen some Taiwanese hand tools perform as well as, if not better than, my old Craftsman set from the 1990s. br>br>Over the last five years, I've watched Sears replace most of the Craftsman hand tools with imports. My first and last experience was with a set of box ended offset wrenches, which had the chrome chipped off even before I got them out of the packaging. It was a waste of time. But. br>br>Stanley Black and Decker (SB) is a company founded by Stanley Black and Decker (SB) and Stanley Black and Decker (SB). D) purchased the Craftsman brand (not the tools) from Sears; the new Craftsman tools are not the same. The socket construction is thicker, as seen in my photos; the thickness of the 13mm socket is the same as that of my "G" 1993 14mm socket. The etching and marking techniques are also distinct. While Sears may have socket "specs," SB clearly does not. For the new Craftsman tools they sell, D is starting from scratch and designing their own designs. br>br>These new Craftsman sockets have a nice chrome finish, everything you expect is consistent, the ratchet dedents are good, and the etching is easier to read than my older style sockets, in my opinion. I believe for number three. I can't say enough good things about this $50 replacement for an old Craftsman socket. br>br>These are on par with the other big-box store brands, in my opinion. br>br>However, if you want a higher level of quality, brands like Wright, SK, and Proto should be considered. Proto, by the way, is a SB. I'm slowly switching to Wright 3/8 sockets (made in Barberton, Ohio, just west of Akron), and I can't say enough about how great the round head Proto ratchets made in Italy are, but they give the Wright/SnapOn/SK a run for their money. On Amazon, Wright sets range in price from $110 to $120. The Proto round head ratchets from Italy, which are also available on Amazon, cost around $30-$40. Depending on the size and nature of the deal, it could cost as much as 120 dollars.

Quality that is well-known and never fails to impress
5/5

Despite all of my socket purchases over the years, I have yet to find a 9MM socket. With the purchase of this Craftsman socket, I was able to rectify the situation. It's a six-point socket with a polished steel finish that's well-made. The tool I received is of high quality, and whoever gets it after I'm gone will appreciate it. br>br>I'll never be stuck in the middle of a project without the necessary 3/8 inch drive 9MM socket again.

The socket is good enough when you need a replacement, but the theft guard is terrible
4/5

When working on Japanese vehicles, 10mm sockets are the most commonly used (and frequently misplaced). I'm glad I can get these Craftsman sockets from Amazon because I couldn't find them separately anywhere else. When you drop the sockets since Stanley took over, they don't sound as solid. I've used them on a lot of cars and can't tell the difference in terms of durability. One advantage is that the read-through time is significantly reduced. In comparison to the older Sears Craftsman sockets, the etching is much easier to read. It also fits into my Craftman tool box kit from the 1990s, which is fortunate. Finally, removing the theft guard on its own can be difficult. There's a chance you'll rip the plastic and end up with a stubby in the socket. I had no choice but to rely on take-out food. To remove the theft guard, take a chop stick and hammer it into the ground from underneath.

With this, I was able to get a string shorter socket
5/5

I wish it had been a little shallower/shorter, but it did the trick. It had to be strong enough to be used with a breaker/puller bar to remove the rusted bolts from my turbocharger. I've always had faith in craftsmen. Excellent craftsmanship. Many thanks to the vendor.

Just in case they vanish
5/5

10mm sockets have a tendency to sprout legs and vanish for some reason. When you can wait a few days for Prime shipping rather than going to the hardware store, this is a great, low-cost alternative.

I have a lot of Craftsman furniture from 30 years ago and it's okay quality for the price
5/5

br>I didn't have the 20mm or 21mm in my set. br>There are some design and detail differences from the older set, but they do match. br>They function as expected and have a nice finish. br>The only issue is that some sizes are much more difficult to come by these days than they were years ago. br>I would recommend Craftsman, and I will purchase it again if the need arises.
