About 12 years ago, I bought two of these same-style door protectors! They work great and, as you can see, they last a long time. I bought a new car and needed an extra panel to protect the back doors of the SUV (4 doors). I came across this and decided to buy it because it looked similar to what I had. It appears to be durable and is made of the same material as my existing one, and it will protect the door because it is made of soft plastic. It's a little pricey because you have to pay for shipping (there's no free shipping with Prime), but it's functional. Using the screws and anchors provided, it's simple to put together. If your garage doors are made of concrete, you'll have to drill holes, but wood is simple to install with the included screws. For a less permanent installation, you can use Extreme Double Sided Tape.
It's described as a "rubber-coated" item in the product description. This item is not rubbery at all, but it looks like a pad. Because it's made of hard plastic, it won't provide much protection from a slamming car door. This one won out over the foamier options. I prefer the more secure screw-on options, so I like options that attach with adhesive. based mounting method, but it's useless if it doesn't protect the car door from scratches and dings. I'll be returning this and looking for another option because a rubber pad would have been ideal.
I expected these to be solid, rather than a reinforced shell, and to have a slightly more rubbery feel to them, but they are actually quite thin and hard, to the point where I'm concerned they might damage the car door edge. They won't last forever, as the hard plastic will likely become marred and brittle over time, and they're also shorter than expected. If you have a long parking spot and don't always park at the same depth, you'll probably need some additional depth guidance to make sure your doors always align with these.
The doors of the car are protected by hard plastic that does not scratch the paint. I've had a pair for over ten years and they're still in excellent condition. Since we have two vehicles in our garage, this is my second pair.
I don't care for the product's packaging. Attaching the product to the wall in this manner is a bad idea. RETURNING THE PRODUCT IS AN OPTION!.
Please add this to my collection. On a masonry wall, a garage for the wife's car looks great.
To protect both the car and the garage wall, I bought this. Screws are used to attach it, and it's wide enough to be forgiving if you don't nail the placement perfectly. I had previously used a stick-in-place bumper, but it kept falling off as the temperature in the garage changed. The only criticism is that the part is fairly basic, and the price appears to be excessive for what is essentially a long piece of soft plastic.
Because we can barely fit our normal-sized cars in our garage, the person who designed it must have assumed we'd be parking bicycles there. So this item is ideal: we can pull it all the way up to the wall (which is the only way the door closes) without damaging it. This is a very clever item. It arrived on time, and we've been happily using it since then.
