Questions & Answers

Is this approved for use in the cockpit or cabin of a small plane?

It is appropriate for that use. Be aware that the contents may contain a depressant. A full extinguisher discharge in a small plane's cockpit without adequate ventilation could be dangerous.br>According to the vendor: br> REQUIREMENTS FOR MINIMUM CONFINED SPACE (CU. FT. 350

I'm curious about the nozzle's size. I'm not sure if it'll fit in the extinguisher port in my marine engine compartment. ?

The nozzle is a tapered piece with a diameter of 1.25 inches at its widest point. The outside diameter is 314". Exactly the same answer as the previous poster. If the taper was a little too long for your needs, you could cut a small piece off the tip with a hacksaw to shorten it. By the way, this is an excellent fire extinguisher. The only thing you might want to think about is the quality of the product. On mine, the plastic tie that holds the pin in place was already broken (it's designed to be easily broken in an emergency). I just ordered some more safety ties from Amazon to replace the ones I lost and have extras for my other fire extinguishers. You must have that safety tie in place, or it will indicate that it has been used and should not be stored in the ready position if it is inspected. They wouldn't accept it as meeting their requirements for tracking the car if the tie was missing, which I do on a sports car.

Is the supplied bracket suitable for installation on an off-road vehicle?

It is a heavy-duty bracket, to be sure.

You'll be glad you took the time to do so! I had no idea how important the type of fire extinguisher was. My neighbor's kitchen recently caught fire, scorching some window curtains in the process. They quickly and effectively put out the flames with their standard ABC extinguisher. Unfortunately, despite its effectiveness in putting out the fire, the residue from the powder extinguishing agent made such a mess that it cost them $12,000 to clean up. If they had used a clean-up crew, I believe they would have gotten a better result. To make things right, all that was needed was some paint and new curtains. br>br>Following my neighbor's nightmare, I decided to assess my own fire safety. Surprisingly, I was able to locate my old powder. A recharge was required for the ABC extinguisher. When I was looking for a new fire extinguisher, I was astounded by the technology behind these seemingly simple safety devices, as well as the variety of options available. br>br>On the internet and YouTube, there is a wealth of reliable expert information on fire safety - Particularly noteworthy are the various types of fires and the variety of fire extinguishers available for each. Without going into too much detail, suffice it to say that I was both surprised and pleased with what I learned about all of this in a single online session. Residential fires that are detected early and put out with common ABC extinguisher compounds, on the other hand, often cause as much or more damage than the fire itself. These ABC-related terms are very common. The broadest range of flammable materials can be extinguished with rated dry powders (typically ammonium phosphate and/or ammonium sulfate). As a result, it appears that having at least one ABC extinguisher in the house is highly recommended. br>br>Halotron gas, on the other hand, simply deprives the fire of oxygen; smaller Halotron extinguishers are typically BC-rated. rated and intended for fires involving expensive and fragile combustibles such as electronic equipment. Halotron can also be used to put out smaller A-type fires. class fires (ash-producing materials - Although it looks like wood, it has a lower official rating for this application. However, in my humble "instant expert" opinion, Halotron extinguishers are now my first choice for our residential fire protection in terms of practicality. br>br>In addition, I discovered that purchasing a high-quality camera is critical. All-metal or mostly-metal extinguisher of high quality. My old Kidde brand fire extinguisher from Costco had a cracked plastic handle and nozzle assembly that couldn't be refilled. I contacted two professional fire extinguisher companies, and both recommended Amerex as the preferred brand, which they also sell to their large commercial accounts. br>br>So, for my needs at home, the cost of this 2 is around $100. 5 lb. Halotron, plus an extra $135 for a 5 lb. Halotron is a wise investment. The 2. 5 lb. Our upstairs laundry room now has a fire extinguisher. The 5 pounder is the more substantial of the two. In the garage, the unit is mounted next to our downstairs doorway. in addition to a standard ten pound. Just in case, we have an ABC extinguisher. In the unlikely event that they are ever needed, my wife and I are confident that these Halotron extinguishers will be up to the task. Also, unlike the aftermath of an ABC extinguisher, the cleanup will most likely be relatively simple and inexpensive. Some solutions are actually worse than the problem they are supposed to solve.

There is no longer any fire in the vehicle
5/5

This extinguisher has only been used once, to put out a car fire on the side of the highway. I wasn't familiar with the extinguisher, but in about three seconds, I was able to yank the lever release cable and hand it over to the car's owner. The engine fire was extinguished and the extinguisher was empty in a matter of seconds. br>br>I'm not sure how long the car had been on fire before I came around the corner - The hood had been raised, and a flaming plastic component had been thrown 10 feet away from the vehicle. But the engine compartment was quickly extinguished, and I can't thank you enough for that. You'll most likely need a heavier extinguisher if your engine is bigger than a car's.

good

I'm familiar with a variety of extinguishers and have been trained to use them. The cheaper ones, in my experience, fail or do not last long, whereas Amerex does. I have two that are ten years old and still have psi in them. Yes, I intend to have it inspected by a professional. In contrast to a child who dies after a few years. br>I'm giving the halotron a shot for the first time because I have Co2 and ABC dry chem. Yes, it's a BC type rather than an ABC type, which I chose based on my requirements.

Overland vehicles will benefit greatly from this
5/5

This gas chemical-based unit is a great addition to your car's or sensitive electronics' other materials. This is what I got for my 4Runner, and it works perfectly with the bracketeer mount. The housing is the perfect size, and the price is less than some of the brands that offer nicer housings (chrome, black, white, etc. ), but all I need is for the tool to work. This book comes highly recommended.

It appears to be constructed in the manner of a tank
5/5

I'm hoping I'll never have to use it, but if I do, I'll let you know. After learning how long traditional dry chemical extractors take to clean up, I purchased this for my kitchen. If this extinquisher is ever needed, I'm hoping it won't destroy my kitchen. br>The included mounting bracket is extremely strong and durable, but I simply placed it on the back of the counter.

It's far superior to powder
5/5

The best alternative to dry powder, which is unsuitable for classic cars such as my 1965 Mustang. It's a nice unit that's simple to set up, and I'm hoping I'll never need it.

Extinguisher of exceptional quality, ideal for use in automobiles and boats
5/5

For my ALFA Romeo 4C sports car, I needed a Halotron or Halon extinguisher for track days, etc. , and this is a nice, well-made extinguisher. You should never use a regular extinguisher to put out an engine fire. You'll have a huge mess to clean up at the very least. If your engine gets too hot, or if you inhale some of that powder, your engine and/or electronics are likely to be destroyed. Because halon, also known as Halotron, is a gas, it leaves no trace. Simply ensure that you get out into fresh air as soon as possible after using it, as it will replace the oxygen (which is how the fire is put out).
