Questions & Answers

With this tool, what is the maximum pressure that can be applied? The weight needs to be increased by 22 pounds. Pressure is applied to the timing belt and deflection is measured. ?

The device is marked and designed to be pressured only by 10 lbs.

What would the mileage be for a 1985 Monte Carlo?

There is no tensioner for me! I only use it for Harley Davidson motorcycles!

How does this work on a BadBoy 60" zero turn ?

My personal opinion is that it's unlikely. Motorbike drive belts are made with this belt. Mowers should have a belt tensioner that automatically adjusts the tension.

A 5 lb spec is what I have. What are the chances that this tool will ?

The 5 lb weight is not marked. Half way to 10 pounds would be a good estimate. I have it set at 10 lbs, it works well.

HD uses OTC tools as their OEM, as evidenced by their logo
4/5

It was hilarious when I saw an automotive YouTuber trying to use this to tension Automotive timing belts, and he had to figure out how to tension it using some stupid math. He had no idea this was Harley Davidson specific. Although this tool is incredibly easy to use, it still needs to be mentioned to potential DIY buyers for two reasons. I. 1. tension scale, then you will need a ruler and a tape measure to determine the correct belt deflection for your bike.
2. The only complaint I have with OTC is that I found a glitch in the mechanism where it would not start to compress until it arrived close to 10 pounds, because once the tension was released, it would almost jump that exact amount.

This is a fixed 10-point scale It is marked in pounds, without a graduated scale
3/5

Please be advised that this gauge does not have graduated tension scales The price for 10 pounds is one line. It is possible that the 10 cent bill was introduced in the 10-cent bill Putting the weight of your Harley in pounds is the standard setting, but if you try to use it for anything else, its accuracy will be compromised, because guesstimating the count will be required.

It does what it claims to do
5/5

It is my default practice to rely on my feel when determining belt deflection, but because it is so low cost and has a lot of positive reviews, I thought I would give it a try. My understanding is that it appears to be working well however, I have yet to verify accuracy. I was surprised that the results I got using this tool were pretty similar to those when I used my finger to push the belt up and used a little over 10 pounds. No matter what, I will use this tool in the future and follow the steps defined by the service manual since I already have it in my toolbox.

This is a decent tool
5/5

For anyone with a belt-drive motorcycle who is keen on taking care of some of the routine maintenance themselves, it's a very useful and necessary tool. There are some improvements that could be made to make it easier to use. It is hard to see the 10lb mark, and there is an o-ring attached A ring atop it to be able to see it, I assume it will work overtime You'll be able to slip the ring more easily, if it doesn't break. However, you should consider it anyway, since it will get the job done and pay for itself after.

I don't know how useful V- is Putting belts on
3/5

It is easier to use the thumb. There should be a label on these indicating they should only be used You could probably do some math and figure out (perhaps) roughly what the proper deflection for belts at 10lb is, but by then, you should just be ratcheting belts down until they're 'goodntight' with your thumb.

That seems to be an accurate and straightforward method of counting
5/5

The belt tension can be adjusted fairly easily, since this clamp is quality made for the price. This tool does a good job for its price, but it takes three hands and four eyes to use, but this goes with any tension tool since you have to keep an eye on how far the belt deflects when you reach 10 lbs or whatever weight mark you want to reach.

I got exactly what I was expecting and it In the past, I've never used one of these when remounting a rear wheel, but I should have
5/5

It does not make sense to "wing it" by using an approximation that this tool cannot provide. It is inexpensive enough that I would not recommend it. Although I won't use it all that often, if I do I'll be glad I bought.

Trying to determine the tension of a chain or belt on a motorcycle
5/5

Motorcycles are a large part of my life and I recommend them to everyone, even those who are not experts in them. Do a quick check while the rear is being lifted to ensure your belt/chain is tensioned properly according to the service manual when you do your service. A half of the battle is knowing.
