The manual covers a tremendous amount of information on the 1955 Chevrolet, both V8 and V6 engines, but I was unable to locate the amount of oil to be used. Instructions provide information on oil viscosity numbers, types of oils, when to change crankcase oil, etc. Regarding the oil level, it simply says to maintain the level between the labeled lines on the oil gauge rod.

This is the first time I have seen him smile so big. In the last 30 years, Dad spent a great deal of time trying to find the original manual Having trouble finding the year he was interested in. He could find the years before and after. Since the original copies were just a bit above my Christmas budget, but my dad has been asking me for this, especially because he plans to start building it again, I decided that reproducing the original would be the better option. For the first time in a long time I saw him smile like that, which definitely needed to be done.
My son owns a 1955 Bel Air and I purchased this as a gift for him. As he reports in his report, it has been a very valuable resource when he has had to fix I was able to correctly diagnose problems through the information in the manuals pages as well as save a lot of money that would have been spent at an auto repair shop.
I know this book will be very useful for me because it's in perfect condition.
It was in perfect condition when I received it.
There is only a minimal amount of material that I can actually utilize since my 55 is fully streetrodded with current mechanicals, plumbing, and electrical systems. that, but still wanted the book. I wasn't expecting it to help much, but at least it would be something.
That text is old school but I like it. I found some great information that helped me restore my 1955 Chevy.
never got my original manual back after I loaned it out. My 1955 Chevy used to be very difficult to find so I'm glad to have found it.
