Questions & Answers

What kind of material is this made of?

It's what I use for AVGAS (aviation grade gasoline) preflight inspections. The fuel tank's tube enters the nozzle at the top straight. The fine mesh on top collects any debris found in the fuel, which can then be inspected.

Is it possible to use this on a Piper Cherokee 235?

Yes, it will happen. The pin is used for the type of fuel cock that must be inserted, while the other side is used for the twist-type.

This is something I need to rephrase: What is the composition of this item?

white opaque plastic cap, clear plastic bowl

The natural world
5/5

I can refuel my plane with this small container after it has been drained. Much fuel is simply thrown onto the pavement where I live in Tucson, Arizona, at the airport where I fly out of. Consider how many planes fly every day, multiplied by 365 days a year, and you'll see how much waste ends up in the groundwater. This is, without a doubt, a useful tool. To a shrinking planet, this is extremely valuable.

There's nothing special about it, and it shouldn't be exposed to the sun
3/5

Mine stays on the plane with me. The heat inside the plane (the canopy is closed) appears to be too much for it. The transparent plastic has melted and warped. It's no longer stable. This isn't a major issue. Before I sump the fuel, I simply open the fuel tank caps and pour the fuel back in. (Previously, I would fill the tank with fuel, place the cup on the wing or cowl, and then open the fuel tank cap. ) However, because the plastic has deformed, I am unable to rest it anywhere. I'm still using it because it hasn't started to leak or anything. However, if it begins to leak, I will replace it with something more durable.

So good that I bought two, one for my own helicopter and the other for a future project: I have to say that this is a fantastic product
5/5

When using it to test fuel, any trash or debris is kept in the jar and prevented from entering the tank during the pour back by the mesh screen. Simply insert your fuel tank flexi drain tube into the circular necked opening and turn on your drain valve, and the water will flow straight into the jar, bypassing the filter screen section. You can see everything that was in your tank clearly. br>br>It's large enough to take a good sample and see any water clearly, whereas some of the smaller screwdriver type checkers wouldn't even fit a gnat into them; this is a big jar in a small package. On the R44 I fly, I can take a good draw from both tanks with plenty of room to spare, clearly see any issues (there haven't been any yet), and then simply pour back into the tank. br>br>The only thing I think they could improve is to include a lid that closes over it when you're done to keep dirt and dust out. That was the first thing that enticed me to buy one of these when I saw it on one in a machine I flew. Because they are so good, I ended up purchasing two of them.

Even if the plane is supposed to come with a tester, you never know when something could go wrong with it, so having your own could be beneficial
5/5

It does exactly what it says, and it comes with adaptors that make it compatible with all of the light GA planes I've checked out. I'm a renter who had always relied on the owner's tester, but after meeting one pilot who didn't leave one in his plane, I decided to get my own. Even if the plane is supposed to come with one, you never know when something might go wrong with it, and having your own tester could mean the difference between flying and driving home disappointed. br>br>In terms of the jar vs. other testers, this is without a doubt the model I prefer. It's simple to operate, holds a large number of samples, and makes filtering and returning fuel to the tanks a breeze. This is far superior to the test-tube-sized ones that some people employ.

For General Aviation, this is a fantastic fuel tester
5/5

Anyone in the general aviation community will love this fuel tester! In comparison to many other testers, the build quality is excellent. It's a little big, but it'll hold up to a lot of drops. There's no way you're going to drop a small piece of metal into the fuel tank. There aren't any small pieces that could cause a FOD hazard in the area. The fuel is as clear as a blue sky in terms of visibility. It prevents debris from entering the tank with the addition of a filter. It fits in a lot of cup holders on planes and in luggage. Anyone looking for a long-lasting tester should consider this product!.

The item arrived in good condition and was shipped quickly
3/5

It performs admirably. Aviation Specialties was the source of my purchase. The item arrived in good condition and was shipped quickly. It performs admirably. There was, however, a snag. This product is available in two versions: one with a small "pouring lip" and one without (completely round). The jar with the pouring lip is depicted in this image. However, the lip is missing from the product I received. This is extremely inconvenient because it increases the likelihood of fuel spilling on the wing.

On the market, the best strainer- and it arrives promptly This is the one to get if you want a fuel tester with a strainer
5/5

Much better than the thin ones that can only hold a small amount of fuel. Despite the fact that most of the planes I fly (including my own Mooney 201) have a tester and strainer, I bought one and keep it in my flight bag. Simple, adaptable, and available from the supplier quickly!.

I'm not sure why anyone would use a non-standard non-standard non-standard non-standard non-standard non-standard non-standard non When the GATS Jar isn't available, a filtered fuel cup will suffice

I'm not sure why anyone would use a non-standard non-standard non-standard non-standard non-standard non-standard non-standard non When the GATS Jar isn't available, a filtered fuel cup will suffice. Rather than dumping fuel on the ground, I prefer to filter the occasional crud from reentering the fuel tank.
