The kit includes a 4 x 6 inch plate. In view of the larger throw radius and motor load between different sizes of plates, Adam's support does NOT recommend the use of any other size. A small plate or pad can be too much for the throw (movement off center) of 12mm, and a large plate can damage the unit due to overload or overheating. This is still a good machine for DIY'ers. Porter Cable 5 by Porter Cable is what I own. This is a 5" DA polisher I used to fix the paint on three cars I own. Getting the Adam's 3" DA polisher so I could use it where the 5 couldn't go helped me go to places the There appears to be a lot of strength and durability in Adam's. There is no room for 5". My favorite application for the polisher is plastic lenses and side-view mirrors, but I could have polished them by hand with a small amount of effort as well. Lightweight and convenient, it is the perfect tool for any job. Only one complaint I have is that the on/off switch is not located where I would have preferred it to be.
