The hook is important if you want to hook a fish On your sander, you will need to attach the looped backing.
In reality, the soft back side of the Disc is used for final sanding with high grit discs like 400 grit or higher. If you're sanding body filler or putty, you should aim for a truly flat surface
Ideal for sanding the finish of a piece of wood. Curved and irregular surfaces are no problem for this product. When sanding clear with orange peel in preparation for buffing, make sure the clear coat is thick enough
The answer is yes. You can use a "No" and a "3" hook.

It has been reported that there were several negative reviews for this product. I can tell you that the reviews are simply There's a Porter Cable 7346 sander in my workshop that measures 6 feet long. Over the past 35 years, I've worked as a professional woodworker. 2 years ago, I retired from woodworking but no matter what, once a woodworker, always a woodworker. The orders for two bed frames I have to finish this week are both due this In my previous life I owned a bunch of air sanders, but now that I am retired, I have sold most of it. Here on Amazon, I bought a regular hook and loop pad to go with my Porter Cable sander. After sanding the first bed, I figured I'd better get a second pad just in case the first one blew out on me. 1) I saw this product when I ordered the backup pads. After reading some reviews, I said that it was quite interesting and said what the heck it was After it arrived the next day, I was amazed at its power. wonderful feeling to have the sander stop bouncing around in my hand, and its surface gliding across it as smoothly as It didn't take me long to burn through both beds. As I approached the halfway mark, I decided to order two more, just in case this one had a problem. Unlike anything else 3M comes up with, it's some kind of sponge composite. Any machine spinning at thousands of RPM is going to tare eventually, but since I didn't know what the spare point is, I wanted to make sure I got a few replacements. Honestly, I was hesitant due to all the negative reviews. A total of $8K was spent on the beds I was finishing. In the end, I would have used about three to four of these things and they would still have been a precious tool. A me should last another 2 to 4 jobs before needing replacement, and I believe that it is good for the second to fourth job. In light of the bad reviews, we can only conclude that the operators made a mistake. meant to be used as grinders and too much pressure over a long period of time will cause anything to tear. It is recommended that you use light or medium hand pressure while using the sander. Sanding the wall should be left to the sander and the sand paper. If you apply excess pressure to the product and the sandpaper and sander, they will only wear out. In order to clear the air, I opted to give a review since the bad reviews on this product are so misleading that I thought I would break the news. The product you are about to see is great in my view. I have built and sanded thousands of products in my career. Thanks 3m for your help.
It was a very disappointing experience! Despite its ability to withstand thirty minutes of use, this pad crumbled in less than five minutes and foam started flying A very poor product, do not buy if you are a woodworker willing to pay more for.
The fact that I paid a premium for this pad indicated to me that 3M was a good bet. During cutting, the hook and loop feature separated from the cutting pad and ended up on the cutting pad itself. A 30 minute use of the interface pad destroys it and renders it unusable. My experience with this product is very disappointing and I will forever second guess 3M products in the future.
These hold up well, as in they last a long time. A good amount of space is also provided. As far as I could tell, I made it through two boxes before it began to separate.
If 3M continues to make this product or if they improve it 30%, they should stop making it. There are some good things here and some bad things, but they're both below average. It is because 3M's products are usually excellent that they maintain a level of quality at this level.
There are no better products than 3M. I have beaten this thing up and down and it's still in good A grade of A+ is expected.
What more is there to say? It's soft, what else is there to say? This is the way things are. To provide some cushion between your sand paper and your DA / sander, use a soft pad. The answer is most definitely yes. The tape off corners and edges can help avoid taking too much material off if you sand too hard, but keep in mind that you should still tape off corners and edges even if you really know what you are Even so, I managed to chip some paint off an edge or two by accident, but that was my fault, not the The item worked nicely along with a DA as I used the 3M Trizact discs to sand out orange peel on the fender and door. I hate how much 3M charges for their products, but this thing overall works well and seems extremely durable.
Excellent for dry or wet sanding clear coat after prime or to finish the final sanding of primer. An appropriate backing plate with hook and loop must be purchased. Make sure you take care of it. Be careful about applying too much pressure and catching edges in the wrong direction. Mine has been with me for over two years, and I have used it frequently.
