To reverse the light, you'll need to use a hard wire.
The cable length seems generous at almost 25 feet, but it's only about 3 feet long for installation in a Tahoe, so I had to splice in a piece of USB cable that I cut the connectors off of and soldered/heated. If you don't have a soldering iron, you can twist/tape the pieces together. It's worth noting that you'll need three of these. For the extension, you'll need a multi-conductor cable. I'd already installed/hidden the long piece of cable (assuming it would reach) all the way from the lift camera. gate all the way down to the floor, all the way along the doors, and all the way up to the driver's seat I extended the cable attached to the mirror/monitor to get it tucked into the headliner from driver-side when I discovered it was too short. a side pillar that serves as a mirror
Yes, the cables supplied are long enough to reach from the license plate to the interior and up to the mirror. When running the camera cables, simply follow the bundle of cables from the trunk into the interior of the car.

) I'm blown away by the quality of this setup! Despite all of the positive reviews, I was hesitant because the price is so low. But there was a reason for those glowing reviews! The system's wiring was a little tricky at first, and the pig tail power cable off the video wire threw me for a loop, but once I figured it out (hint: you only need to run power from the camera to the reverse lights, then tie in the video pig tail on both ends), everything worked out fine. Then, on the mirror side, connect the power cable via RCA and tie in the video pigtail. The remaining length of power cable should not be run from the mirror side, as this will create a loop and turn on the reverse light. Because you tied the pig tail in at both ends and ran the camera end to the reverse light, the power from the video line will be sent to the mirror. It went off without a hitch. TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL; TL DR - On both the camera and the mirror screen, the video quality is excellent. I would (and have) enthusiastically recommend this to my friends. I hope my little wiring discovery is useful to someone!.
It gets a solid 4 star rating for the price! It took me three days and two nights to complete the task. Installing it on a 2004 4Runner took 3 hours per day. I'm not sure if the 4Runner is more complicated than other cars, but I was hoping for a simpler job. The positive (red) wires that came with the camera are extremely thin in circumference, and I believe they should be thicker because I'm feeding them 12 volts; even speaker wires are thicker. I followed the instructions to the letter and had no trouble getting the camera to work in reverse light. One minor criticism I have is that it does not cover side views as well as, say, Subaru's stock camera, so make sure to look left and right when backing up (as you should always do, but Subaru has a wider angle). Overall, a solid 4 for the price; if I had known it would take me 8 hours to install, I would have purchased a wireless camera instead of dragging the wires through the lift gate into the cabin; however, the power must come from the same darn back up light inside the cabin, so it's not that much easier.
It performs much better than I had anticipated! br>br>Installation: br>br>Installation: br>br>Installation: br>I ordered extra wire after reading that some people didn't have enough, so I wouldn't have to stop half way through tearing my Jeep apart to wait for it to arrive, but I didn't need it. For my application, there was plenty of wire. When I was finished, I actually had to tuck about 8 feet of wire into my headliner! I found that starting with the camera and working my way up to the monitor was the most straightforward method. I drilled a hole through the car behind the license plate, pulled the wires through, and inserted a grommet (not included) to keep it from leaking, and it worked perfectly. (For an SUV, this would be fairly standard. ) It's likely that you'll be able to avoid drilling). From here, I had to remove all of my back end molding, run the wires alongside the pre-existing wires, and finally install my tail light. This is where things get a little more complicated. The reverse light must be spliced into. I located mine by consulting an online wiring diagram, and after connecting my red wire there, I connected the black wire to a ground wire I already had for my trailer hitch. br>br>At this point, come to a halt. Get your mirror out of the closet and turn it on! Make sure the car is in reverse and that the lights are turned on! My mirror didn't work, so I unplugged it and began tucking my wires all the way up to the front, where I connected the mirror. br>br>This has really impressed me. It has the appearance of being manufactured. There aren't a million wires visible (in fact, there aren't any). When the sun shines directly on the mirror, the screen can be difficult to see, but this is a fairly common occurrence that has nothing to do with the product's quality. At night, the camera performs admirably. I can't think of anything negative to say about this setup. You can install it yourself if you have a basic understanding of electricity. It's something I'd buy over and over. And at this point, everything is plug and play, so if I wanted to upgrade something, all I had to do was unplug this one and plug in a new one!.
It included almost everything you'll need to get started. I say almost because the power cable that feeds power from the reverse light to the camera was too short for my car, so I had to solder about 18 inches of cable to finish the job. br>Installation is time consuming because it necessitates disassembling the rear lights, locating the reverse light cables, and splicing into them. In addition, I had to disassemble the hatch and drill a 3/8" hole in the sheet metal to feed the cable in, as well as fish the wires through the headliner, and so on. The difficulty level will vary depending on the vehicle. The camera requires "clean DC" power, which isn't always available because some vehicles' tail lights don't have it. In such cases, a clean power source (a power outlet in the hatch will suffice) must be found, and the camera must be powered by a 12V relay powered by the reverse lights. Installation videos can be found on YouTube, as listed in the manual. I didn't see them, so I can't say how useful they are. br>I tucked the excess cable from the camera to the mirror under the headliner because it was longer than what was required for my car. br>The rear-view mirror/display is a little bigger than the front-view mirror/display. When installed, this view mirror in the car completely covers the original mirror. Everything worked as expected once it was installed. It almost looks like the system was installed at the factory. I'm very pleased with the system and am considering purchasing a second one for my truck.
