Questions & Answers

I have the 5034 model, is that one a good replacement for mine?

I would say that it fits right in just connect the same color wire. It takes about an hour

Are you just talking about the heater or does the tank come with it as well?

This is a tank and heater that is insulated.

How does the unit operate with the 110v power supply? Does it come with a 12v relay?

In the propane igniter, 12V is used. Elements used in electric heaters run on 110V.

As well as listing this product as a 5239A model, you list it as sw6de as well. Could you please tell me which one it is? How are you?

As a replacement for a SW6DE, this product performed as expected, no modifications were required. I do not know if it would replace a 5239A, you may check the owner's manual of both before purchase to see if there is a difference in size etc.

Even if it were a direct replacement of the same model, it would have taken a lot of time
3/5

This unit of my rig was an old Suburban 6 gallon unit that wasn't always able to re-gas If you use hot water, the flame will ignite. This was purchased because I was tired of cold showers, along with the parts listed in the "frequently bought together" list. Butyl was needed but the remote panel switch was a wasted purchase. As of this writing, the unit does not have the relay that is needed to operate Additionally, you will have to connect a 110 volt plug to your electrical system. I could easily plug in my ice maker which is connected to a 20 amp circuit right next to the water heater. Thankfully, it's located right next to a 20 amp outlet behind the water heater. When it's cold outside I want to be able to heat with propane and electricity at the switch of a switch from inside my motorhome. 232948 is the number of the relay needed. I found that to be annoying. In order to run gas from the back of the water heater to the front you will need to use the old gas line from the old unit. I used a steel pipe with a flared end and an inverted flared end. There is no way to bend this to fit the new tank and it cannot be bent the way I need The Ace Hardware store in my town has a propane hose and a 90 degree flare union. As well as this, I needed to recast Water unions are needed at the back of the tank for hot and cold water. My bottles are plastic and one of them has a small leak that needs to be repaired. The cover frame is attached to the housing with three long screws on the outside. It is obvious that a larger diameter screw was used to attach the old unit to the frame. At this point, it was almost dark, the hardware store was closed, and my significant other was eager to find As I tightened the screws, I angled them toward the coach slightly, so that they would cause the frame to pull inward. I had them in stock, which was great. As part of the installation process, I ran high temperature silicon across all the tank gaps, including the wires and propane lines that run through it in the service department. It is not a good idea for the coach to get contaminated with fumes. It has no faults of its own that I can mention. This seems to have worked fine. For just a few extra dollars, it could have been sold with the part I mentioned and I wouldn't have had to go to the hardware store, which was quite far If I had paid a bit more for this, I would have gotten a 5 star review and would have been a very There are many good water heater bypass kits on the market. If you don't have one, I recommend installing one now. The Camco 35953 looks good and eliminates the need to replace the water heater Old yucky 1/2 unions from your old unit will work. Additionally, there are the following a heavy-duty 110 volt plug a wire nut or connector a 12 volt relay a an extremely heavy-duty 110 volt plug Replacement parts for non-direct use silicone heat resistant* br> A copper line, flares and a flaring tool, or quality propane hose would be ideal.
3/8" NPT unions should be double flared
half " NPT unions should be 1/2 ".

There is definitely a need for You can still use it even if you have it wired for 120V
5/5

Instructions were best when it came to the wiring diagram. In addition to that, I had to use the internet and call a technician to get answers to my questions regarding installation. I love the quality of the heater as a whole! it's installed and operating on gas and electricity, let's take a look at its features. This is what I'd like to say. A 12V power line will need to be run to the heater if you plan to install it on an older trailer. The DSI system will only function if you have a 12V source we aren't able to run this on gas if you don't have any 12V! You can operate the heater with the electrical element if you have 120 VAC, but the heater cannot be operated with It will still require 12V to run the ignition system for the gas side of this heater even when it is wired for 120VAC. This was something I had to figure out for myself. Can you point me in the right direction? I have no idea. That's now the case and I hope others will find it helpful.

Make sure the fittings are present
4/5

As soon as the unit was delivered, I noticed the 1/2 inch couple fitting did not come with it. At Lowe's, I was able to purchase the fittings. The unit was installed without too much hassle, but I discovered a leak at the anode rod when I filled the heater. The anode rod was removed and more pipe tape was applied, but the leak persisted. Another piece of tape was used to wrap the thread after the rod was removed. It had been raining the night before, so there was water in the tray the following morning. Once I had the old rod from the old heater in place, there was no further A customer service representative from Amazon assisted me in purchasing a replacement rod and then credited me for it. Now that the heater is working properly and there are no leaks, it is working fine.

Does the job There is a lack of quality control
5/5

Installing a new Water Heater for the first time, as I replaced an old one on my Lance Truck Camper (due to aging).

I inspected the unti again before installing it and found the following problems The following *br There were approximately 6 stripped screw holes (In each case, I "fixed" the hole by disassembling the screw By assembling whatever was attached there, and then using a Center Punch around the hole's edge to "close" it up slightly, the screw was able to catch)
- It is necessary to cut out the insulation on the large red wire going to the controller (this is a packaging issue since the sharp edges of the sheet metal are pressing Against the wires during shipping). Despite the fact that the new unit is fitted with a sheet metal box to house the 110V connection to RVs, there simply wasn't enough space to accommodate Getting the connection to work was as simple as taking out the box making it elsewhere (minus the The fact that I was not in a hurry to complete the installation was no big deal. It's great that performance is so good! It heats faster when you use gas or electric, or even faster when you combine the two. The design is great!

The Bottom Line A great product, but do give it a very close look - It is recommended before installation to check that all of the screws are tight and no obvious damages have occurred.

Installation is quick and easy
5/5

It was necessary for me to replace my propane only Atwood hot water tank in my RV. Within the day after I ordered it, a new one showed up at my door. I was able to fit it into my RV perfectly. Since it will not come with a cover, it is either going to have to be saved or you have to get a new one. My old one had no problem fitting on to the new one. You will also need to remove the old 1/2 inch Male threaded water line adapters. The tank I had broke while taking them off but my local hardware has these on hand. The tank looks nice and works great, I like the propane or electric heating options or the fact that you can use both for faster recovery of hot water.

This is a great program! There is nothing short of awesome about this water heater
5/5

Prior to this model, I only had the propane model with no electric, but I upgraded to this one that has both propane and electric, and I only had to use the propane on dry trips. Otherwise, I only use electricity when there is a hookup. Despite the fact that it heats up quickly, it maintains a good temperature. This unit has been of great assistance to me.
