It appeared that my old tank had a sealant between the abs pipe sticking out of the top of the tank and this? There seems to be no place for a hose clamp. ?

Does it matter what type of sealant I use?

There was no sealant on my hands. Once the pipe was inserted, it was a tight fit. I had to work a bit to get seated, but it was worth it.

It is a very good product, 2 1/8 inch hole saw size

The actual hole size is 2 1/8 inch. In the beginning, I bought a 2 1/2 inch hole saw as recommended above, but it was not right Two 1/8 inch holes work just fine as their size is the outer diameter of acrylic pipe. The hole size is perfect as it is just tight enough to prevent leaks from occurring. I've installed it and removed it a few times and never had a tear. The rubber used for this product is durable. Old and cheap are not good.

What a large waste of money and effort to use glue in when there can be inexpensive alternatives

A few dollars saving is not worth the convenience, ease, reusability, and security that this provides. I do not recommend this fitting due to its ease of use, adjustability, and durability as a whole.

You can get great results with step n roll
