Although the hitch opening is only 1 and 1/4 inches wide, it is a very strong hitch. The bracing is similar to what I've seen on class 2 vehicles.
This was purchased in preparation for a 2020 Kia Sportage purchase. This appears to be a good fit. I hope this information is useful.
For the 2018 Sportage, we placed an order. It was simple to put together, and mounting screws were included.
The trailer hitch for a Kia Sportage is very nice and simple to install. It comes with bolts, washers, and instructions on how to torque it down, which I like. If you watch the video, it will take approximately 30 minutes.

My big SUV's engine blew, but I still need a way to tow a small trailer as a makeshift solution. So why not borrow my wife's small car? I was hesitant at first, but eventually came to the conclusion that it was a viable option. Have some muscle to lift the hitch. You'll need to remove a small plastic panel behind each rear tire and pull two rubber hangers to lower the muffler. The horizontal hitch mounting holes are hidden behind the plastic panels. Three button head clips keep it in place. Hitch is a device that lifts a person straight up and into a position. Install the four vertical bolts from the bottom first, making sure they're completely tight before moving on to the horizontal bolts from the sides. br>br>The rear aesthetics of some small SUVs are ruined by hitches. This one appears to be in good working order. It's not obtrusive, and it's sturdy and well-installed. I'm a seasoned mechanical engineer who designs and builds things on a regular basis, and I'm very happy with this product, as well as the Curt Euro 2" ball I purchased for my trailer. On a three-hour drive, I towed the trailer while moving a bed. The only issue was a little banging due to the fact that my trailer was not fully loaded. I think it was a good value for the money, and I'm satisfied with it.
This is a fantastic little snag. I was on my own when I began the installation. However, it was necessary to take it to a mechanic in the end. It appears that one of the welded-to-the-frame nuts was not tapped. I would recommend hiring a professional to install the majority of the bolts because they were extremely difficult to install. It's difficult to get leverage on your back under the car without a lift, but I love the Hitch. The fit and finish are excellent. Apply an even coat of paint to ensure complete coverage. This appears to be a factory-installed feature. Curt, I appreciate it.

It's extremely simple to set up. Just double-check that the hitch you receive is the right one for your vehicle. I received a hitch that was not the same as the one I had ordered from Amazon. They realized what they had done was incorrect.
