Although I have been using it for several months, my cleats are still very tight. That is a good thing, because if it happens accidentally it will be caught. Wiggling the arm up and down while holding the pin handle is all that is needed. You should be able to pop it out.
While there is an element of subjectivity here, here is what I would say In the case of my trailer, as measured from the bottom side of the tongue, the distance to the bottom of the ground plate is approximately 11 inches when it is at its lowest setting. My sincerest apologies for not being able to respond sooner. As a side note, I have had this unit for four or so years and I absolutely love it. You're always outside, it doesn't matter what the weather is like, the surface is smooth, and even looks great!
As a side note, when I ordered mine about five years ago, it came within a

There was an A-rated trailer on my trailer Coupler is installed tight to the frame jack. There was going to be a big smack on it from my tailgate. Installation was straightforward for this low profile jack, which is very durable. I am able to drop my tailgate using it. If it is near the jack handle or not, drop it whichever way it is facing.
It's almost perfect, but makers of these things conclude you have a long tongue, which I do not have. My stowaway is only a little over a foot long, which means I can't fully swivel it. This is only going to allow me to mount and stow about 10 inches of the thing. To hold it down, I wrap a zip tie around the tongue since the short tongue does not give me enough room to fully tilt horizontally. Besides that, I find it to be very useful and works.
For an old or small utility trailer, I need a small jack. You will find this Reese Jack here. It arrived very quickly after I ordered it. It was double packaged and arrived in a Reese box that looked like it was from a factory. I installed it within a few minutes without any issues. Several poly bags were inserted within the Reese box to protect the parts. The machine works well and is smooth to operate. Overall, this is a very good value.
It took me a while to get around to installing the trailer jack. This is a nice way of operating. I find the device to be smooth and easy to operate right out of the box. Installation is the only issue I have with it. Even though it wasn't difficult or particularly complicated, the process was still a bit bothersome. You won't find any instructions - If at all possible- It took some study of the product pictures on the box to determine how the parts should be inserted on each side of the In addition, it was very difficult to attach the nuts assume they're doing this so as not to back out of the deal. Running the bolts tight was a tedious process because the bolts were so long. I did not like the length of the bolts on my trailer tongue because it made them stick out so far that I was concerned for my safety. All that being said, I was very satisfied with the unit, its performance, and its price once installed.
A very sturdy unit that can be mounted multiple ways, and the hand crank gearing is powerful enough to raise/lower a trailer up to 2K lbs in weight (not tongue weight, but gross vehicle weight). In addition, the mechanism is sturdy and locks firmly so won't fall down while being driven.
It is very sturdy, and we have a 3000 pound.
This set wouldn't fit where I needed them to, so I returned them and am now pursuing a different approach.
